My take on him:

There are always a couple of guys at the lower level that you always say, "How did that guy end up there?" I think McBride could be that. I think he has some brashness and a lot of confidence in a good way after talking to him.

Yes, his throwing motion isn't clean, but he has some athleticism. His offer list wasn't great, but Norvell knows QBs, Whittingham offered him at Utah, Boise State offered, he was committed to Chad Morris at SMU at one point, so several schools with track records of developing good QBs offered.

Is he Hunter Johnson? No. Could he turn into something? Maybe."

Possibly. Probably 2/3 of QB's never pan out. But at this point in the 2017 cycle, he has potential, and you take that, and hope it develops. If not, you have 2018 to do better hopefully.

No other SEC offers? None of the instate schools besides SMU offered?

I gotta be honest, I love commits like this because it gets the idiots all fired up and makes for some great threads. Like taking this kid is the end of the program lol. JG last year and plenty of time to land a top '18 QB as well. RELAX and enjoy the ride, good for this kid hope he makes the most of his opportunity.

Oh, not this... A small amount turn out to be stars. MOST don't though. That said, we didn't have a lot of options this late in the game. Hope McBride turns into one of the 3 you mentioned. 🙃
