'17 TX QB Will McBride (UT Commit 12/13/2016)

Don't shoot the messenger, SMU didn't have him pegged as a QB. That's why they parted ways. Apparently he one-hopped several short hitch routes while he was camping with them and that kind of sealed the deal for them. After watching his film, I don't understand how. He seems to have a pretty good arm.

Nerves.

Are there any vids of him at like 7 on 7 or anything like that where he's throwing into windows or crossing routes? Only thing I've seen is him just launching bombs.

I'd like to see this as well. He can obviously air it out, and he can run.

He threw nice intermediate crossing routes in the hudl, maybe some others, don't recall. But we have posters defending Dobbs when he never learned correct footwork for short and intermediate sideline stuff in 4 years. There's time to work on his throws. The point is he has good skills for this type O. Pulling Will at this stage in the cycle is a good get by Butch/staff.

It boggles my mind how if you have a negative opinion, you're not allowed to share it on a message board. Or you get called a short sighted loser, mouth breather, idiot, etc etc. Or get told to go root for another team.

I'd never take it personal but sheesh..just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean you start tossing out insults.

And I'm not taking up for people that bash kids..id never do that. But saying you're disappointed in this recruiting class & pointing out that a lot of the kids we're taking have pretty mediocre offer lists should be allowed without getting lambasted.

The only times I get upset with negative comments are when the remarks are insensitive about the player or when it is the same thing over and over. Everyone has their opinion, the main issue with me is how some people choose to express theirs.

Ok... back on topic, I think McBride would be a 4* if he was 3 or 4 inches taller. He's playing against good opponents right? Like others have said, there have been shorter quarterbacks in the past that have been really good in college

We all wish for those 3 or 4 extra inches...

Wait, he's better than Dobbs? 😂😂

Dobbs is the man and one of the reasons we won as many years games as we have the last few seasons. He has also had struggles in the pass game. However, I wouldn't have wanted anybody else leading our team. He is an amazing athlete and an incredible young man. He is a leader on and off the field and we couldn't have asked for a better ambassador of our program.

With that being said, it might be possible for someone sometime in the future to have a better on field career than Dobbs. It doesn't take anything away from what Dobbs has done. I don't know if McBride is that guy or JG or whoever. But let's not act like it isn't possible.

D4H is a moron but I would love to see Dobbs have a great NFL career.

Rarely do players from Texas 6A fail to receive enough exposure to be accurately rated. Being 6' (and height is often exaggerated) hurts him. But his rating is very unlikely to be because the recruiting sites do not have enough info.

Ceiling for him is probably a Chase Daniel type player.

Chase Daniel was an excellent college quarterback. Sounds good to me.

Welcome Mr. McBride!

Yep, losing Tee has been disappointing. This class won't be too 5 like we were hoping, but can still be top 10 if Butch pulls a couple big fish like Akers and Ray

Actually, I am okay with losing Tee. I could envision a PW or JH drama outcome with him to... jmo

Speaking of running do we know his 40 time? He does look quick. I find it funny that they listed Dobbs at what, a 4.7? And he out runs everyone!

Dobbs ran slowly for all timed events...on purpose.
Psychological warfare with a well thought out plan.

He definitely has game speed.
:)

I never understood the Dobbs times either....actually maybe I do.

Here's my take. Maybe Dobbs 4.7 was fairly legit. The difference being that, where most 4.4 - 4.5 guys actually are slower in pads, Dobbs didn't lose any speed in pads.

His timed speed and football speed were the same. No drop off.

Having forward momentum helps too. Once you clear the line and LB's you are running towards people that just a second before were probably running the other direction while in coverage.

Game speed is real:)
