Well, there are the obvious similarities in that they were both born in the state of Alabama, both are the sons of long time HS football coaches, both were DBs in college, both were DB coaches in college before being promoted to DC (as was Saban), and both were very successful DCs under Saban.

They both seem to be very driven individuals understand what it takes to be successful. They are both tireless students of the game and relentless recruiters.

I believe also that Pruitt benefited from being a DC under 2 other successful HCs, not necessarily from just what he learned from Fisher and Right that made them successful, but maybe also things he saw that maybe weren't so successful and he can avoid himself without having to go through trial and error.

Kirby has obviously already shown he can take the Saban model, tweak it as needed, and be very successful in a short amount of time. Obviously Right left Smart a good deal more talent to work with than Butch left Pruitt, so it is probably not reasonable to expect the playoffs in Year 2, but at the same time, I think Butch left enough talent, albeit undeveloped, that we at least should be a pretty competitive team with the staff Pruitt has assembled.
