I think it's foolish to judge Pruitt and staff on this class. While recruiting is the life blood of a program, coaching and player development are much more important. It takes longer to build a program the right way and we as fans typically don't have patience to see it through. Not saying Tennessee fans don't have patience because that would be false evidenced by the last 10 years. All you have to do is look at the basketball team and see the proper way to build a program.
I think kids from around the country have grown skeptical of UT football. I think fans are reaching that point too. That's why I've maintained that this hire was crucial to the future of Tennessee football. Fans are becoming weary of all the gambles that we've witnessed the AD make in regards to coaches. I've maintained here that I felt like the UTAD took advantage of the supreme fan loyalty that many of us have in our DNA. It was alway a simple dollars and cents calculation on a spreadsheet. Revenue was pretty much maxed out so why go spend the money it takes to hire a well established coach?
Jeremy Pruitt may turn out to be the next great coach in this league but he could also be the next failure. There is not enough data out there to really make an educated prediction. I sure as hell won't decide based on this signing class. I'll be more interested in what happens this fall on the gridiron.
HubbsTuesday thoughts At one point back in December, Griffin had the Vols out front. But things have not been trending Tennessee's way for the last couple of weeks. Griffin's dialogue with Tennessee has been said to be limited at best the last week or so, although it's unclear how much he's spoken with any school. Griffin is a huge priority for Southern Cal and he has deep roots in Los Angeles. His hometown just seems to be too much to overcome.
Weird recruitment. How the hell was he committed to UCLA when USC was his childhood favorite? Then favors going outside the state then finally decides on USC? Lol these kids change their minds every three seconds.
