I am curious to see how many QBs the staff wants this cycle. I think it really comes down to what the roster looks like and what the current QBs decide to do after a starter is named. If JG is the starter and QD decides to transfer then I would definitely think they would want two. If QD doesn't transfer, I think they may be satisfied with one and use the extra spot elsewhere. We still have plenty of needs across the board.

NB4 Tony would use the spot on a 10th OL. :crazy:

Good call, I think it definitely depends on who the starter is come fall.

Will be interesting to see it play out. I wouldn't be surprised if they do take two QB's no matter what. Especially if they get two guys where they like them both a lot. Competition breeds success.

I hope we can flip Martinez next weekend. It's just weird to think that we once lead for three 5-star QB's and didn't end up with not one of them .

I do too but if we can't I think there's 3 that we have mutual interest in. Those 3 are Rogers, Penix, & Foster. Bohanon is another one that would be a long shot possibility but the other 3 mentioned all 3 have said numerous times of their interest in UT.

Other possibilities at QB are Milton, Mayden, Cooper, Brevin White, Barrett, & Loving. All long shots but still in the picture. I think we take 2 QB's & hopefully one can be a 4* & the other a 3* or 4* commit. We really do have quite a few options. Thanks.

Who were the 3 for 18? I can only come up with 2 and one of them was not a 5 star until he committed to OSU?

Probably depends on how many QBs we still have around at the end of 2017.

If we somehow keep all 4 current QBs on the roster, then sure I don't see why not.

If we only lose 1, then maybe.

If we lose 2, I don't think it's feasible.

I figured it was but I was wrong for the 1st time in my life. :p:wink: He's just taking his time & playing the waiting game. It will be Bama when it comes time. That's how I feel about it anyhow. I still give us a 30%-40% chance though. Thanks.

Why has UT struggled to recruit QBs? We were once favorites for Lawrence, E. Jones, etc. Even Fields who we offered before any of the power house did simply wasn't intrigued. It seems like we're always runner up..

I didn't want to admit it for a while, but I think not having a QB coach probably hurt. It probably didn't look good when these guys showed up to visit and three coaches were working the OL producing lackluster results, while the QB's are stuck with a grad assistant. The passing game was so inconsistent too; for every '16 Florida game, it seems there was a '16 S. Carolina game.

Lawrence, Jones, and Fields are all five star program changers, and could do for UT what Cam Newton did for Auburn.

Now I really don't think a pocket passer like Lawrence is a good fit for the offense, in fact, it's to be determined if a pocket passer will fit in Clemson's offense either.

In regards to Jones, it would be difficult for anyone to beat out Meyer for a DT QB that he really wants.

As for Fields, he was intrigued at one point, iirc. I think that had everything to do with Penn State having a good showing in the Rose Bowl and UT sh¡77ing the bed vs. S. Carolina and Vandy. Just a gut feeling, but I bet Fields becomes intrigued again if Guarantano lives up to the hype this year.

I think he's top target left on QB board as well and my guess is they push pretty hard next weekend. He might take a few days to go home and think about it but I think there's a good chance this is our QB in '18.
