'18 CA QB Adrian Martinez

Butch has recruited the QB position at a fairly elite level in recent years. He almost landed Peterman at Cincy, landed Dobbs and Ferguson the first year at UT (Riley might be NFL material if he keeps it up at Memphis) and Butch has kept the position pretty loaded ever since. I think we've got another nfl prospect or two in our current mix between the guys on campus and the guys committed.

Very impressive. Does Peyton's legacy help us here?

I believe Butch also said that he would have signed Zach Mettenberger from JUCO to Cincy but LSU called last second.

Riley is getting some first round hype.

Tennessee just gave itself a chance to win for the next 5-6 years, imo. This is an elite get, with incredible potential, who could help lock up a lot of the ridiculous WR talent in Tennessee. The new coaches have not been asked to do a ton, but the early returns are quite nice. Martinez is a top 50 player in any class.

Listening to his interview that just aired on The Animal. Extremely impressed with his demeanor and competitive attitude. I hope he really becomes a superstar here.

I'm not sure if it was the same interview or not, but I heard him in the Rocky Talk Podcast. Impressive is the only thing I can think of to describe the kid too. At the risk of sounding like a sunshine pumper, I think the kid just sounded like a winner.

It goes without saying that the quarterback position is an important one, and it can be just as important in building a class. Tennessee undoubtedly feels better about its class with two quarterbacks on board, particularly following last week’s addition of Top247 quarterback Adrian Martinez, a former California commitment from Fresno, Calif.

In addition to filling a major need with a talented player, getting Martinez was important for Tennessee because of what it could mean for the rest of the Vols’ class. Everything is just a little bit easier, especially on the offensive side of the ball, for a team with an elite quarterback in its class. And Tennessee still has several needs to address on offense, including running back and tight end. The Vols still need at least one more receiver and one or two more offensive linemen, and it can’t hurt their cause that they now can point to Martinez as the centerpiece of their offensive class — and, as they already have said to Martinez, the face of their 2018 class overall.

"ESPN's Billy Tucker compared Tennessee four-star 2018 verbal QB commit Adrian Martinez to Auburn junior QB Jarrett Stidham.
"Both QBs are passers first but athletic enough to make plays outside of the pocket and hurt you with their legs or ability to throw accurately on the run," Tucker wrote. "Like Stidham, Martinez is a cool customer who drives the ball into tight windows when needed or can throw with touch and timing." The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder is listed as ESPN's No. 32 overall prospect for the 2018 cycle. In ESPN's scouting report, they note that Martinez "can drive the ball" ... "make all the throws" and possesses "a high ceiling."

Stidham has been mocked as high as 19th in next years draft, so the compliment may mean a bit more than most would think it should, as JS obviously hasn't done much.

Cardinals: Jarrett Stidham, QB, Auburn

10 Cardinals: Jarrett Stidham, QB, Auburn
One year at Auburn after the transfer from Baylor pushes one of the best arm talents in the nation into the first round. The dual-threat has a tremendous year on The Plains and Arizona finds Carson Palmer’s replacement.

So Foxsports had Stidham 10th in next years draft, to put the comparison in perspective as far as upside and booms.

Others; interestingly, each has the same team taking him.

QB Jarrett Stidham

Fox Sports: No. 10 overall to the Arizona Cardinals
Walter Football: No. 16 overall to the Arizona Cardinals
CSN Mid Atlantic: No. 19 overall to the Arizona Cardinals
