I know she is but was a change and the other one was blown up about how she was one of the best in the business. Part of why she left was bigger and better job offers. I think we are fine but players have to do right on their own time as well.
Not having a real S&C coach was a real failure last year. He fixed that problem tremendously but the major fail wasn't hard to see.
Posted this in this very thread a while back, still believe it to be true.
This was the biggest issue for me last year. From the first game (I was there) we looked weak and was not physical at all. The players spend more time with the S&C coach in the offseason and I believe that's were that "dog" mentality is formed and we lacked that last year. Not to mention the players wasn't physically ready to withstand the grind of the season.
The guys looked soft or husky. There were hardly any guys that looked like improved athletes either.
Totally agree. By far the biggest fail of last season. Our guys were in awful physical shape last season and it was evident from the first snap and like I've said many times, it almost assuredly was a huge factor in so many injuries. Without question it cost us the East and probably a 10-2 / 11-1 record.
Yep, as bad as Fulmer's last year - where Ramon Foster said during summer workouts that players would walk in and tell Coach (Long?) that they didn't feel like lifting today - and he would say OK and send them on their way.
Don't recall hearing that under Fulmer. I do recall an OL under Dooley say that all they had to do to workout was sign a sheet without supervision. Guys would just sign in and leave.

They act like I'm talking crazy about the athletes nutrition but Alabama doesn't play that nonsense. And you can see it on the field. If some of the posters watched how the workout they wouldn't accuse them of being on juice like that either. They take a big guy like a Tuttle or KMack and turn them into a monster. It's not hard though when they are already naturally strong. They can handle the high rep numbers they give to them. Our guys will look drastically different this Fall. The Spring Game showed me enough. Our players looked much better just athletically. I would bank on KMack not being a soft 315-320 this year.
The only crazy talk is when you wrote it was a major fail of not having a nutrition program. They had one. The complete fail was S&C. You may have not meant it and it was a mistake BUT that was what people were questioning.
I have watched this debate silently for several days. I will add something I know, rather than an observation or opinion.
The nutrition program definitely existed. This was confirmed by a UT athlete who ate at the training table with other athletes including football. However, they also confirmed that while their coaches and staff enforced the nutrition plan, it was generally known among the athletes that it was NOT enforced with the football players. They observed this repeatedly much to their dismay not only for their own plight, but for the inevitable impact on the team and thus the department.
That is a fact. When the other athletes in the department see the problem and will speak of it openly despite the fact that they are lifelong football fans, there is a problem. So before you crucify BB, you might want to consider that athletes inside the program agree with his observation.
