'18 FL CB Jordan Miner

He also had Austin Smith as one of his linebackers lol. Jumper, Sapp or McDowell are light years better.

Of the three you listed, only Jumper can play SLB. And I wouldn't call him light years better than any of our LBs, really.

Smith was a good SLB for us as a freshman. But he put on a bit too much weight and couldn't get healthy last year, so he redshirted. Not sure why you've decided he's bad all of the sudden.

I'm not expecting much of Tuttle at all this year or at least the start of the year. Two years of not being able to train because of major leg injuries is a killer.
He has to be far behind physically.

While I agree that we shouldn't expect much early this year, his play to recover the fumble by outrunning the VTech QB last year was incredible. He showed flashes before getting hurt.

I'm not sure why you think McDowell couldn't play SLB from a physical standpoint as well, but we can agree to disagree on that. It really hurt Smith trying to experiment with him at DE IMO. A lot of the reason I listed McDowell or Jumping being better is predicated on meaningful snaps and experience. McDowell is listed at 235 lbs and Austin Smith is 236 lbs....

You and I think alot a like

Be the most dynamic tandem since Moreley and Berry. Or Jackson and Berry.... pick one but we'll have a big hitting tandem that can cover a lot of ground with those two. Gaulden was the tone setter for the defense(Which is why we suffered in the run game).

I guess I didn't mean to say that McDowell couldn't play SLB so much as he doesn't play SLB for us. McDowell and Sapp aren't necessarily competing for PT against Smith since they play different positions.

As for the DE experiment hurting him, he really only played there last spring. He was with the LBs all last year, but rehabbing his shoulder while redshirting. What he can give us in 2017 is a bit of an unknown because we never saw his second year of development. Same could be said about Sapp.

He was setting the edge hard as a freshman in the running game. He had a good second half of the season.

Yeah I was completely against the DE experiment. He's just what we need at the SLB spot.

MLB Bituli
WLB Kirkland
SLB Smith

Would be my preference at the moment.

Yeah, in hindsight we wasted a season putting him at DE with him getting injured and all.

But also at the same time Smith himself has admitted he didn't do a great job keeping his weight under control. He kind of ate himself out of being an SLB. Some of that is on the coaching staff for not having a proper S&C program in place, for sure. But some of that is on himself as well.

Our athletes should never have to do their own nutrition. Too good of a program for that. That was another major fail to the fullest.

Not sure if you're serious. UT has a great nutrition program. But nutrition is ALWAYS on the player. You can't watch these kids 24/7 and there's Ben and Jerry's at every corner store.

Who says he ate all this at the training table? Coaches can't control late night runs to Taco Bell anymore than they can control a late night run to East Knoxville to buy drugs. At some point, the players have to assume responsibility for themselves. Coaches can't monitor them 24/7/365.

This was an issue with more than one player last year. You could tell the nutrition was off.

How? I agree that you can tell we had S can C issues. There is no way to tell if nutrition is "off."

Because he is always right. Coache's always wrong. He can't admit he was wrong about saying players nutrition shouldn't be on their own. He forgot we have a team nutritionist in charge of that. Regardless if it was off or not, they are not on their own.

Lol...didn't y'all know that as soon as the player leaves the nutrition table, their mouths are locked shut and they can't eat again until they return to the nutrition table? #nofreewill

What and how much they eat is 100% on the player. You can plan every detail foe their meal plan, cook it for them, and tell them when to eat it. Even make a rule and call it "mandatory".

But if the player want to eat exta, or not what is prepared or recommended , it's on them. It's called personal accountability.

If the nutritionist screwed up and put him on the wrong meal plan is one thing, but I doubt that is the case. His metabolsm was probably revved up and he was hungry constantly, mine does the same if I work a lot or work out. I stay hungry.

So it was all on the coaches when they were making Taco Bell runs for certain players? Hahahaha

If you are in the game (BB is) you can absolutely tell who's eating right vs who's not.
Won't even get into body fat, lean muscle mass or body composition.
I have a buddy he is 194# I'm 184# almost same height he has a six pack I'm semi close.
Most people would pick me as being the heaviest.

True to this BUT to say we don't have a program so another fail on the coach is hyperbole.
