'18 FL CB Tanner Ingle (UT commit 6/19/17)

Good grief people. It was a good hit with poor tackling form. Do we have to coach everything on here? Just enjoy the HIGH SCHOOL play made by one of our commits. He will learn better technique as he progresses.

Better technique is coached on many highschool levels and was over 30 years ago as well.

Amen! Some of these people on here are experts on most anything you bring up thou4th..

The tackling form I was taught is what they call the Seattle seahawk form now. Head up lead with the shoulder and wrap with the arms and drive with your legs. You won't be standing over him after the olay either until you get up cause you drive that azz into the ground. Not an expert as far as most of you as far as learning from the stands. Driving that kid to the ground and hearing him groan two times in pain is what I miss.

Love how someone sees one hit and decides the kid has poor tackle technique like he does this every play. Surely he doesn't do this every time. I'm sure you repeat the Berry hit on Moreno without complaining about his technique

You don't say?! That's quite a revelation. Thanks for sharing.

I think you missed my point.

Don't care and wasn't trashing the kid. This is actually how most kids do tackle. The big sportcenter hits. It's also why you see more concussion and neck injuries and why some say if they played without helmets, you would have more broken noses and teeth but fewer concussions.

I'm sure you don't care what my thoughts on the matter might be. I just think it's laughable how some on here want to take a little bit of high school ball and parlay that into some know it all coaching post over one play the kid made. I'm sure you could've won state if the coach had just put you in.

Edit: I'm sorry Jacket. That may have been a bit over the top. I've been sipping some cask strength bourbon tonight and I get real sarcastic when I do that. My apologies

I think it was more a discussion of how tackling technique has deteriorated over the years. It's in the NFL and everywhere. It really had nothing to do with Ingle. I like that he is fearless. I played QB and some what we called rover and grew up playing in the Atlanta area. I was on the field but we never made the playoffs except one year. So maybe we would've won state if the coach had played somebody else.

It was originally a thread showing one of our recruits making a pretty solid hit. It should have been a thread of kudos for the kid but like every other thread it was hijacked by a few Morans that felt like they needed to coach us all on proper tackling techniques.

I would venture to guess that 70% of the posters on these pages have played some level of organized football. Probably 45-50% played some varsity ball. Some like myself were even fortunate to play college football. My point is that we ALL know the proper technique to tackle and don't need to have a thread for the kid hijacked for this type of discussion.

BTW since you played Rover (whatever role that is) I'm sure you had the opportunity to make a few tackles in your day. Did you use proper technique 100% of the time? I sure didn't. I thumped guys similar to the tackle in question probably 35% of the tackles I made (I played LB btw). So everyone piling on the tackling technique of this kid just ease up off him a bit. It was a good solid hit.

That is where you are missing the point. It wasn't about the kid overall because it is only one tackle. He may have the best technique in the country if you watched a larger body of work. Soortcenter tackles is the big hit they show on TV that has changed the game and you have seen a deteriation in proper technique across the board. That is my point. Go back and watch the early 80 Georgia team and Terry Houge if you want to learn about a rover.

A lot of the shoulder tackling is taught for safety concerns.Dbs Wrapping up were having too many arm and shoulder issues.Look at one of our favorite hits....Eb knocking out Knowshon Moreno....shoulder tackle.

In the late 70's, besides 'proper' technique, we were taught to 'earhole' the opposition with the crown of our helmet.. In todays game, I wouldn't make it out of the first quarter.

I now have three fused cervical vertebrae to show for it....

We were taught never to spear and it was a 15 yard penalty. Not sure where you played but not surprised that some ignorant coaches would have taught that. Sorry for your injuries because of bad coaching.

Smh. This dude could have gotten a diving 1 handed pick 6 and returned it to the house and you guys would still be like oh but he's a 3 star won't work in college lol.

I love Ingle. Glad we have him. You have no clue what most of us are thinking. Chad gets it but you not at all.
