'18 FL CB Tanner Ingle (UT commit 6/19/17)

We were taught never to spear and it was a 15 yard penalty. Not sure where you played but not surprised that some ignorant coaches would have taught that. Sorry for your injuries because of bad coaching.

I wouldn't technically call it spearing.. To me spearing implies a launch into the target. That being said, looking back on, it wasn't good.. I played at Deuche Bag High School.. Our little pet name for Dobyns Bennett.. Haaaa..

And yea.. Some of our coaches definitely weren't the sharpest tools in the shed..

In the late 70's, besides 'proper' technique, we were taught to 'earhole' the opposition with the crown of our helmet.. In todays game, I wouldn't make it out of the first quarter.

I now have three fused cervical vertebrae to show for it....

My C 4, 5, 6, and 7 are fused, but I still play golf 3 times a week.

5, 6 & 7 here.. The disc at 3/4 is almost gone, but they'll have to scrape my a$$ up off the ground with a spatula before I have that surgery again..

Came off pain meds a few years ago and started workin out again to strengthen my core.. Doing 5x5 and worked up to 300 dead lift, 300 squat and 240 bench.. Not bad for a beat up 55 year old fart.

Prolly not the smartest thing in the world but the strengthening of my core has brought my pain levels way down..

He needs to wrap up. That crap won't work in college. That dude he hit weighed 115 soaking wet

I believe a guy named Eric Berry used to do this to vulnerable players....ala Knowshon....let the kid have fun. What needs to be taught will be in the film room on Monday, and Warren will get it later. Just enjoy a nasty hit with lots of power.

I have herniated S1 and S2. The work I do is very physical, lots heavy lifting, bending, on my feet all day, etc.

It actually helps my back by keeping the muscles strong and keeping my spine in alignment. If I take a few days off I start to hurt pretty badly. Folks think I'm crazy when I tell them that but it's true. Strong core muscle help tremendously.

If I had to guess, the way he throws his body around, a shoulder. I hope not, but if I was a betting man, that's what I would put my money on.

I think he might have had surgery but we should probably wait for confirmation from Hubbs or one of those guys. :)

I read somewhere that it was a shoulder injury........

That's how false information starts to circulate lol

True. Wonder who the dumba$$ was that started that rumor? Oh yeah, it was me. My bad. I wasn't trying to start a rumor, made a guess, probably should have kept it to myself and will from now on.
