'18 FL RB Jashaun Corbin (Texas A&M signee)

I think they can get Corbin this weekend, but will they take him and Grant in this class? Seems like Grant might end up elsewhere.

Sounds like we might lose Grant and add Corbin.

Been a long time Grant supporter and I know he’ll be a decent back, but I am starting to swing towards Corbin.

Noteworthy to me that USC (Helton) saw fit to offer Corbin, whereas Grant has never held an offer from the Trojans.

IMO it's a win/win either way. Both very talented football players. I give a slight edge to Grant because the dude could probably play 4-5 positions well

I just assumed grant was gone because he didn't reaffirm his commitment during visit. He clearly is looking for something else

Maybe it's just me but isn't 4.7 a bit sluggish for a running back in the 40 time?

Yes, but you can't believe a lot of these 40 times either. A lot of them must be hand timed or with a stong wind at their backs. At the NFL combine last year, Kareem Hunt ran a 4.62. I think he led the NFL in rushing as a rookie this year.

Idk what his 40 time is, but he's not getting caught from behind a lot in any of his videos.

If you are slower than 4.7, it doesn't how much you can move from side to side. You will still get clobbered.

So wrong with the 40 time crap. Burst and how quick to top end is allot bigger factor.

A 4.5 and a 4.7 are about a step apart after 40 yards. I’d much rather have a guy with tremendous burst that runs a 4.7 over a top end speed guy that’s a 4.5.

If the 4.7 guy has that blast off and is out in front of the 4.5 guy by a couple of steps after ten yard but then the top end guy passes him after 30 yards and beats him by a step after 40 who’s going to pickup more yards?

How many backs never have more than a couple of 40 yard runs in a season. 95% of the runs in a season will be less than ten yards, where you need a quick burst.

Look no farther than Kamara. How many times did he blow through the line but got caught from behind 30 to 40 yards down the field. Tremendous burst but not the greatest top end. Worked out to ROTY for him.

Who gives a crap about his 40 anyway. He isn't being recruited as a HR hitter. Kids can improve time in college anyway. Watch the highlights. Obviously kid got skills at RB. Jimbo wanted him at FSU and now AM. Coach G likes him. Both guys haven't been wrong often on RBs. Heck both guys have wanted him twice so they both had chances to walk away

Dobbs ran in the mid 4.6s and looked faster in the open field than hurd or kelly. Like others said burst and acceleration as well as setting up defenders are more important than straight line in a lot of ways.

Fluid hips and cutting ability.
