'18 FL RB Jashaun Corbin (Texas A&M signee)

Is that 4.71, 40 a typo?

After years of watching recruiting, I've concluded the 40 times in recruit profiles are completely meaningless. Not sure how others feel. The fact that he has been offered by a significant number of elite programs is much more meaningful.

Used to live in Melbourne and was there when Holy Trinity started their High School. It was mainly an alternative for rich kids who did not get into Melbourne School for Science or West Shore. Athletically, they play a weak football schedule and normally are undersized in general with a small roster so many will play both ways. Occasionally they get an above average talent so I am mixed on the commitment. Offer list looks good but I don't get the feeling this kid was a top 1-3 target for the major in-state schools. He did lead Brevard County in rushing with 1,865 yards and added 19 catches for 345 more yards in 2015 but numbers were down in 2016 due to young roster.

His highlight is 🔥, his offer list is as good as any player in the country, on top of that the analysts commenting on this commitment are saying that Tn got a baller, "the next Kamara", "one of America's most touted prospects at his position", and here we are on VN questioning whether he is good enough. We just can't be happy in here, can we?

He plays at a relatively small private school that competes in Florida's Class 3A. The highest classification in Florida is 8A.

Callahan

THIS.

The young man has talent but the level of competition he has faced (Look at his video) is not impressive. He is largely a man among boys in that classification.

Hope he rises up to meet the competition he will soon face if he makes it here. Just saying and not a negavol.

HG has stated that he plays in a smaller classification, but that there are a couple elite programs in his district. He also plays Colquitt County and American Heritage this year, which should be a solid test of his abilities.

HG also mentioned a couple other successful Florida HS RBs who played at smaller classifications that went on to major college success.

His offer list speaks for itself and 3A in FL isn't 3A in Tennessee or Kentucky. As BB said, you want your stars to look like men against boys. I'd be more suspicious if he didn't stand out in his video.

Not meant as a knock on you, just some perspective.

There's always plenty of shade on VN.

That also means the teammates around him aren't on the level he will play with here. It goes both ways.

lol at yall clowning his competition. This is Florida. I grew up in Melbourne. HT has improved greatly since I graduated HS in 2006.

Hope they hold on to this one. Gets to top speed quickly and effortlessly. Great vision, pass catching and cutting ability. Good fit for the O system.

Good post. I was more worried about guys like Bituli and Z. Stewart (even though we never got to see him play) who played at smaller division schools in TN. But, we know how Bituli has turned out as he should have a big year. His offer list also speaks for itself.

I often wonder if those that question or express concern about commits really understand the effort that goes into determining who they do or do not offer a scholarship to? It does not involve recruiting services and it isn't limited to watching highlight films.

If I see an offer list that includes the teams that are on Corbin's list, I have to know that if Tennessee is seeing enough to offer him and accept a commitment, that Florida, Miami, Michigan, LSU and others are seeing the same things our staff did.

I agree with that but I also think it's a lot more complicated than "we see something in him so let's offer him".

Just like when players are drafted into the pros every team has their "A" list recruits their "B" list recruits and their "C" list recruits. As in "we are pouring our efforts into landing this one player but if we don't get him our plan B is this guy and our plan C is this guy.

So when someone tells me that this team or that team also offered the player a scholly, that DOES NOT mean that each school valued that player equally and on the same level.

This is further buttressed in my mind when a guy with that many offers commits so early. What that says to me is that the player knows that those other teams consider him second rate and only a "backup plan" and so I better jump on this one offer because I know I would be considered their "plan A".

Tennessee may also be fine with that if the player in question isn't at a position that is considered a priority get. So they may say let's go hard after everybody else's "plan B or C" players at RB because RB isn't perceived as a great need in this recruiting class and we don't have to expend much energy on getting them.

I'm not saying any of that is true about this kid, I'm just saying stuff like that plays a real factor in recruiting.

lol. who left the FF door open?

so all the recruits who have committed early are "B" players wanting to be "A's". and not just to TN but to all schools. Better let Cade Mays and all the other committed five stars that they are really just keeping the seat warm.

i swear this place never ceases to amaze me.

No..what he is saying is that if a player picks UT early, even with all those offers, he must be a B player in reality.

ah, so we are the only ones picking up B players, seems legit.

we have been calling this for a while now, but I can't believe it happens so much. Have only 2 really good recruits = b&tch and moan. Pick up a bunch of players over a weekend like requested, including some 3*s and there is more b&tching and moaning. literally no pleasing.

I finally got the chance to watch his film. I can see why he has some serious offers. This cat looks like a baller to me. Great pickup for us.
