'18 GA CB Taiyon Palmer (NC State signee)

SIAP, Vols have “new life” in this race after coaches went in-home on Friday per Simonton.

* Meanwhile, Tennessee continues to have dialogue with Taiyon Palmer. The CB visited with a couple UT assistants Friday. He didn't take an OV anywhere this weekend. N.C. State remains the likely choice, but the Vols are still in the conversation days before NSD.

Purely hypothetical and maybe unlikely - I'm aware.... but humor me:

If ITS and Griffin both want in, would we take this kid?

All three are absolute takes. There is even room for those three and one more. One of the newcomers (WR/DB) the past few days would be passed over if we could sign Griffin, ITS and Palmer. But I also think we would still take Flowers due to his upside at Safety and need. So at best, that is 4 DBs signed on Wednesday. Obviously, the more realistic good scenario is ITS, Palmer and Flowers. Call me thrilled if that ends up being the case. Still unsure if Davis-Micheu signs or is a blueshirt.

Some kids just don't like being backup plans. In the end many go where they have the longest relationships and where they feel most comfortable. Seems like that's what this kid is doing. I respect that.

Tuesday thoughts – Palmer is a former Duke commitment that a lot of schools jumped in on late. Tennessee was one of those, as the cornerback has been such a priority for them. Tennessee got involved with Palmer after falling out of favor with Eddie Smith. Tennessee's chief competition for Palmer has been NC State and indications have been that the Vols haven't been able to overcome the Wolfpack. Tennessee did make a final push in an in-home visit last Friday, but at this point it would be an upset for the Vols to overcome Palmer's long-standing relationship with the Wolfpack and land the cornerback.

Preference I know just seems like most kids would dream of playing at ut or uf or bama..you get my point

until you have been scorned for so long you lose interest. UT on the hot/crazy scale is so off the charts crazy it doesn't matter how hot we think we, or our coaches, are.

I know what you mean. I just think the short amount of time this staff has had is what’s biting us in the rear.
