'18 GA CB Taiyon Palmer (NC State signee)

Palmer looks better a a slot Wr in his tape than a DB.
IMO

Playing 10 yards off the ball and picking off hitch routes in front of you. Getting ran down from behind on your highlight real is not that impressive to me.

He has great hands, average speed. No DB skills. No tape of him pressing or trying to challenge a Wr.

And other teams running 5 yard hitch routes in front of a squared off 9yd deep corner. Makes me question how good that team actually is. Dumb play calling
Exactly what my concerns are with him. If he’s going to play DB it will be a nickel or safety

Honestly Jeremy is as good as saban when it comes to developing db's imo. I'm not concerned at all.

Yes I'm with this 100%.... This staff has good coaches, recruiters, and will trust them until a reason not to.

I was just saying Brandon Davis tape as a corner is way more impressive. The Davis kid is a freak athlete who is fast and his tape flashes DB skills that are needed with corners on a island like the 3-4 needs.

How can you say that? Saban has always had good DB play even before Pruitt..Pruitt’s game plan for the defense was very impressive in the championship game and against Clemson, but he is still unproven as a head coach saying he’s just as good as Saban is a stretch wether that’s coaching Db’s or not I can’t think of any coach today that can even hold Sabans jock strap and I’m a huge vol fan myself..I hate saying that but it is what it is

Fair question but between coaches Pruitt, Fair, & Kelly not worried about the coaching the DB's will be getting.

Whole bunch of experience and knowledge there.
Including a 1st round NFL draft pick as your position coach at corner.

Kid has a good offer list.

Brandon Davis has a better tape vs better competition.

Recruting services are funny sometimes. Good standard to go by, however the rankings do rely on camps and who offered you. Too many kids to go through tape of kids who don't camp.

better competition? Grayson lost to Archer 6-3 this year. Archer is in 7a Georgia/Gwinnett county. You could field a college team from Cobb and Gwinnett county alone

Don't confuse team success vs individual performance.

The kid is getting great offers so there is something coaches like about the kid and if coaches want him take him. I'm just saying at corner this kid does not have an impressive tape AT CORNER

Kid could be a great safety or slot Wr.

I was just saying at corner Brandon Davis has a much more impressive tape for a cornerback.

Let's see, do I want the ribeye or T-bone? Screw it. If I can't have the filet, I'll just have a grilled cheese. Is that the discussion here?

No thats nto what you said, you said he plays better competition, and i am telling you there isn't much better competition in the Nation.

Yea watch palmer highlights the players he was "covering" I say that very loosely because Palmer plays 9 yards off every receiver in his highlights. (Not something you see from a top corner) anyway not very impressive recivers

I agree with you but Davis is not close to 6 ft high. That is kind of concerning for this league. Then again I don't know what I'm talking about 😂.

Did you listen to Smart talk after the game, I believe, where he said it wasn't that much different from being a dc and hc in the game? Jeremy has done great things at 3 different places. That ain't luck. He knows what he is doing.

More like Ruth’s Chris’s or Western Sizzlin. Some people still only think we have a Steak and Shake budget.

Staying in the secondary, Taiyon Palmer left Knoxville after what was said to be a positive weekend, but North Carolina State has seemingly shifted all of the momentum toward Raleigh. The Vols are continuing to swing there, but that one looks like an uphill battle right now. That makes this weekends visit with Isaac Taylor-Stuart all the more important. His entire family is slated to make the trip with him, as the Vols will roll out the orange carpet.

This looks to be a major fail. Disappointing

the only way that's true is if we don't get Cambell, ITS or Griffin. i mean, which is possible.

but all three know there's a spot for them...and all three are 100% takes. i think we get 1 of them, and Palmer becomes an afterthought.

Maybe it just shows how far we have fallen and how much of an uphill battle Pruitt has. Which make sure it that much more impressive that he came in and got the guy a he has gotten so far.

I wouldn’t consider not landing a kid that wasn’t even considering us three weeks ago as a “major fail.”

If anything, the staff has excelled based solely on the early signing period results, all things considered.

Let things play out. See how the class looks as a while before you start with the knee jerk negativity.

Only if we really didn't want him. It seems to me we wanted him badly. We just can't lose to teams like NC state

Guess we're just gonna have to settle for our fallback option, Tyson Campbell. Man I wish we could get in on some real talent instead of having to always settle for guys like Campbell.

What makes you think we get Campbell?
