Not arguing/doubting you but Simonton a few posts above said it was a "mutual parting of ways." Sounds to me like they didn't think he fit.
As far as Anderson goes, they were recruiting him at UGA (and he commited) while not even offering Chatman. So it isn't as though one was required for the other.
Think of it this way. Coaches are professional salesmen. They will use every angle to get you to buy. The angle Tn had that no one else had was playing with your childhood friend since 6th grade. Automatic card every salesman would play in any and every situation. Tn coaches werent going to give away their edge or ace card. Professionals get the player they want, then cut bait (see LSU), not the other way around.
You dont throw away a good chance of a program changing player with seven days to go. You build your program off guys like Anderson, guarantee he will minimum All SEC barring injury. He can literally take over a game. You bring them both in on OV this weekend (as was reported and rumored), take your swings and if you dont get the game changer, Chatman still has 6 weeks to look instead of 7.
Edit: also meant to add, that was a quote from his coach. So I do realize he has his players interest in mind but the above is realistic. Not saying they wouldnt have cut him, but knowing Pruitt, he would like his chances with any player face to face on his home turf. Hes a closer.
