'18 GA QB Emory Jones (Ohio State commit)

I don't know about that. Hernandez was implicated in a few shootings while at UF, but they couldn't prove it was him. Remember the number of arrests that happened under Meyer at UF? It was insane. Even guys not committing serious crimes were getting arrested for speeding tickets, and unpaid parking tickets and suspended licenses that no one talked about much (The Pouncey brothers had so many traffic citations they lost count).

Reggie Nelson should have went to jail as well as he was part of one of the Hernandez killings while at UF at a bar. Percy Harvin was a borderline pyscho that got into bar fights on the regular. Chris Rainey. Tyrie Cleveland and Rick Wells taking pot shots with a BB gun at people from their dorm room. Illegal unregistered gun offenses, many pot and banned substances failed tests swept under the table (Ray Mcdondald for example). Jamar Hornsby stealing his dead roomates credit card and used it for months. He stole it the night his "friend" died and bought a TV at Walmart. I mean the list goes on and on.

I was being somewhat sarcastic but it was worth that stroll down memory lane!

It really shouldn't be tough to negative recruit Urban Meyer and his laughable success with his QB's translating to the NFL.

Lets take a look at Urban's college QB recruiting over the past 10 years and lets see how their careers ended up.

5* Tim Tebow - NFL bust, moved to TE at the end of his NFL run, now trying to be a baseball player.

5* John Brantley - Supposed to be the best QB prospect out of FL in many years. Was committed to Texas for awhile then decommited and committed to UF. Bust, undrafted and signed by the Ravens as a UDFA, cut a few months later. Considering his hype he was a big disappointment.

5* Cam Newton - Can't even count how many times he got in trouble for academic cheating, theft, and other off the field issues for missing practices and team meetings. Basically was about to be kicked out of UF despite Urb's best efforts for his third and final academic cheating violation. Transfers to JUCO, then stars at Auburn and we know the rest. Urb couldn't even keep the future of UF football eligible and out of trouble.

5* Jeff Driskel - Do i even need to write about how awful he was at FL?

3* Trey Burton - moved from QB after his freshman season to TE.

4* Jordan Reed - moved from QB after his freshman season to TE.

3* Tyler Murphy - moved from QB to WR after his freshman season. Transferred to Boston College.

4* Jacoby Brissett - was terrible at UF transferred to NC St. and made it to the NFL.

5* Terrelle Pryor - bust at QB in the NFL, turning into a superstar at WR in the NFL.

4* Braxton Miller - turned into WR his senior year. WR for the Texans.

3* Cardale Jones - Big arm, mobile, great his first year playing and won a NC and got worse and worse each year. Said a lot of stupid stuff on twitter. Went from a first day pick if he kept progressing but ended up a fourth round pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2016.

4* JT Barrett - again, looked great early on in his career and because of injuries and i suspect Urban's inability to develop QB's very well, he has not improved at all.

5* Torrence Gibson - moved from QB to WR. In trouble a ton, transfers to Cinncinatti.

Basically Urban has proved that he can recruit the best athletes and talent in the country. He is able to teach them his junk offense which leads to a lot of college success because of the elite talent around the QB and the gimmicks, but almost guarantees you won't be an NFL success at QB.

Also, there is a very high chance if you are recruited as a QB by Meyer, you have an extremely high chance of being moved to WR or TE.

You are completely missing it. Its not what kind of success these guys have once they get to the NFL, its Urban's record of getting guys into the NFL. Thats what Sabans allure is as well. In reality, Saban has not produced as many guys that have flourished in the NFL as he should have. Neither has Urban Meyer. But both of them continue to put tons of guys in the NFL.

If your Clemson yes but if your TN you don't go down that alley until you have firepower behind it. So say TN starts hammering into this. Then the recruit says ok well who are your QBs in the NFL. Don't bring up a flaw of someone else unless it is a major strength of yours. At least his QBs have had huge college success and been in the stage to be drafted high. Now if Dobbs has success then you can start to scratch the surface of this conversations.

Um Clemson wtf are you talking about. Who has Clemson put in the NFL at QB again? *Crickets* Watson will be the first and even he is sliding down draft boards. He should be the top QB in this draft but his questionable decision making has a lot of teams not sold on him. Personally speaking i think he pretty damn good, but anyhow i still have to laugh at the until we are Clemson comment.

What happened to us? Seems like we're really struggling this year, except with the in state kids. Seem to have a lot of momentum there

It seems to me- and this isn't exclusive to Tennessee, or even college football- that when a school finishes as runner up (supposedly) in a recruiting battle, and something happens that causes a kid to look around or decommit, the original runner-up is rarely a factor.

You're points are all over the place. Many of these kids never payed a down or even recruited by Urban. Reed, Burton and Murphy all moved positions after Urban moved on. All three still found themselves on NFL teams (active or practice squad). Why? Because the were great athletes. His system is athletes first. Most of these kids only care about getting a shot at the NFL and CUM is one of the best at putting kids in that position.

Every program can be knocked for QB development. You can name off a who's who of former 5/4* QB that didn't develop at USC, Bama,A&M and ND. Still hasn't stopped kids from signing there. Honestly the only guys that are safe when it comes to QB development are Jimbo and Bobby P. Even they have a few bust on their resume.

Aren't most of the UF guys you mentioned on Muschamp?

Should've read this first. You are exactly right. I'd only put Brantley as a black eye. Dude got Tim Tebow to be a first round pick! Tim Tebow a first round pick?!?!

Also Alex Smith.

Nice attempt to conflate the issue. Those guys like Reed, Burton, Murphy etc.. all had a year under Urban. They all were going to be moved positions even though they were promised and recruited as QB's first.

It is basically a fact that if you play for Urban as a QB, you will not make it in the NFL as a QB. His offense is 2 read offense with very few checks and a lot of pre-snap reads. The QB often runs more than the RB's and the jet sweep and read option stuff are the focus of his offense. Urban has never bothered to try and fix his QB's mechanics. If you want to win but not develop as a QB, Urban is your coach. If you want to have no accountability and free reign to thug out and do whatever you want off the field, Urban Meyer is your man.

I'm sorry that your precious feelings are hurt because Florida was basically a freaking criminal asylum when Urban was running the show. I've never seen so many thugs at a program with so many arrests and lack of suspensions in my life at a major power 5 school. Baylor and Art Briles were certainly trying hard to win that award from Urban though.

Wtf am I talking about? Do you watch football moron? Tahj Boyd lit up defenses in that offense and they put out several first round WRs. Now back to back national championship appearances including a win led by a first rd pick. Would you like to tell me how that wouldn't be a better argument to a QB prospect over TN? Clearly must be considering they took Hunter and Trevor but please keep acting like an idiot

Guess ole chandler thinks it's easier to sell a QB to be the next dan lefevour, whoever his Cincy QB was, Worley, or Dobbs than to be the next Watson/Boyd or Tebow/Miller/jones/Barrett. Please give me a break. Who do the kids know? Sure as hell don't know who the F any of those guys Butch coached besides Dobbs. Peterman looked like a bafoon then leaves and becomes a 3rd and 4th rd pick potentially. Yet you somehow think we have something to pitch to QB prospects that is better than urban Meyer and Dabo. Lmao purely idiotic

Most of Urban's QBs would never make it in the NFL no matter who their coach was because they are athletes first. Point is, Urban showcases them and gets them drafted, often high. Dislike the guy all you want but he's undeniably one of the best in the biz.

Yep. Not his job to worry about what they do after draft. His job is to win games and put them in position to be drafted. Now if QD and JG are everything some scouts believe they are then eventually Butch will have an easier time pitching the successes of Dobbs, Q, JG that would be fresh in mind of prospects.

I was factoring in OSU as a whole, but yes you are correct. OSU as a whole, despite significant success hasn't sent any QBs worth a damn to the NFL. As long as urban is there, that trend will continue IMO.

Maybe it will or maybe it won't.

Won't change the fact that he generally has great offenses and teams that always seem to factor into playoff discussion.

That's a big pull in recruiting.

I agree and I never said they didn't! I'd rather not win a national championship and make it to the league- but that's just me.

Yeah but I'm not sure most top flight prospects look at it quite that way. Most don't see it as an either or type of situation. Most have the confidence to think that if they play at an elite program and compete for championships, then they'll get their shot in the NFL.
