The kid is foolish and that's not on Kirby. Fields probably thought he could win the job and now that it didn't happen he's blaming everyone but himself. He's a great prospect but he was stupid if he thought he would play right away with what Georgia had on the roster.
Well his dad was pissed because he was not given enough attention when he visited TN as a Sophmore.....so there's that. It's hard for me to believe no one in his family could see the handwriting on the wall. Fromm was obviously a serious talent, his family must be dumber than a sack of hammers. It's also hard for me to believe Smart told him that he was going to bench Fromm so Fields could play, not with the way the Saban coaching tree (including Pruitt) preach competition, assuming he is leaving Georgia this sounds like butthurt that he couldn't beat Fromm out, but it still goes back to the family's stupid decision as being the root cause of his predicament. The kid could have started day 1 at probably 75 schools, they literally picked the worst depth chart besides possibly Alabama. Actually it's worse than Alabama because Tua can and probably will go pro next year. Fromm is far from as likely to leave early as Tua.
Possibly naive, but not stupid. The kid is smart. Choose your words carefully. The kid is foolish and that's not on Kirby. He probably thought he was going to beat out Fromm and is butthurt now. If Fields was better there would have been a player revolt, especially considering the racial dynamic. Fromm appears to be the unquestionable leader of that team every time I watch them. I can't wait for him to graduate.Well his dad was pissed because he was not given enough attention when he visited TN as a Sophmore.....so there's that.
I’m aware of his high school exploits...I’ve lived in the area 23 years. He passed up being drafted in MLB because he wanted to PLAY FOOTBALL. So he could have picked any program after one season at A&M...why Oklahoma with Baker Mayfield a lock for two seasons? I’m not projecting Fields to Oklahoma by any measure, I’m just saying he’s not going to be spooked by an incoming true freshman who may or may not have much playing experience by the time he comes available. That Riley offense fits Fields perfectly. He knew he was getting drafted in the top 10. Baseball has always been an alternative for him. He was a big time prospect coming out of hs.
I didn't see anything in the SEC bylaws or commissioners regulations that permits a school to block a transfer or put any limits on contacting a player.

I tell you something, it's not choice I would have wanted to make.
Fields outplayed Frohm in the Spring and Fall camp.
But, those guys on the team had just came off a National Title appearance with Frohm.
Frohm is great player.
After the LSU loss, there was talk of starting Fields. Because he is a better runner AND passer than Frohm, in which Frohm is good on both as well.
However, Frohm is their battled hardened leader. It was just NOT the best decision for Fields to try and come there and expect it to be fair.
Remember Cam Newton and Tim Tebow?
Is there any argument now who is better? Yet....
And quite honestly, that was 2-3 plays per game too much imo. In trying to placate him, their shiny new 5star QB, they put the far better QB (at the moment for sure) in Fromm on the bench at times and it led to their offense being disjointed and out of rhythm at times. Looked like a case of promising him the moon during recruitment to get him to sign, and then realizing that trying to follow through with some of their BS promises was hurting the team.I thought the same thing during the season. He would play 2 or 3 plays the whole game, then be on the sideline for remaining of the game...
Couldn't happen to a better program. I personally don't feel bad for him at the slightest. He and the fam should have seen right through kirbys bs sales pitch. And quite honestly, that was 2-3 plays per game too much imo. Terrible choice, couldn't have made a worse one if their goal was to start immediately, play 3 years and jump. It's like if your one goal in life was to avoid getting gas and you head straight for a chili cookoff.Couldn't happen to a better program. I personally don't feel bad for him at the slightest. To say Fields is every bit as good as Lawrence is based solely on hope and faith. It certainly isn't based on actual production or performance. Lawrence has generational arm talent. Fields might, but no one has seen it. You are putting the cart before the horse, IMO.Fields is everbit as good as Lawrence from Clemson is throwing the football.
Smart did not handle Fields well.
