Will never understand how grad transfers count against a signing class.

I may be wrong, but I believe usually they count toward the 85 limit not as an initial counter so long as the grad transfer meets requirements showing they are progressing or achieved a graduate degree if they fail to meet those reguirements then their scholarship has to count toward a class

I thought the penalty if they failed was that you could not accept another grad transfer for two years.

I just think it is a bs rule. A signing class should be strictly for undergrads. They are the ones needing multi-year scholarships.

Hubbs says Wiggins counts against 2018 class because Butch didn't have room with numbers in 2017 class to count him. Nice parting gift. I think the number is 22.

Ron-Fant and Wiggins and do you know who else counts against the 25 max for 2018's class? First I have heard of 22, was thinking 23. Thanks for all that you bring to the boards, by the way.

people argued so hard for him. gave me so much ish for doubting. Immediate starter, all SEC type guy.

What is so frustrating is how we have won some of these recruiting battles to get sought after players to Tennessee and then they are busts. Elsewhere in the SEC they have freshman and JUCOs who come in and become elite playmakers that meaningfully contribute day 1.

I do think the new staff will make a difference since they have the ability to develop players.

Trey Smith, WRs, RBs all had good freshman. defense was just a hot mess so its hard to throw any of them into that bucket. but I am certainly not throwing any of them out.

We had fresh that contributed and were great players (relatively). Better team and you will see the freshmen look better, can't expect them to carry the team.

Agree.

15.02.3.1 Initial Counter. [FBS/FCS] An “initial counter” is a counter who is receiving countable financial
aid in a sport for the first time.

So Wiggins doesn’t? Florida should be relieved because Malik Zaire.

Hubbs should have the inside scoop, but I don't see how Wiggins counts as an initial based on the wording of the rules. If grad transfers counted, it seems like schools would be very reluctant to take them unless they were no-brainer starters.
