'18 GA RB Lyn-J Dixon (Tennessee transfer)

They haven put many RBs into the league since Dabo's been there. I'm probably overlooking some guys, but CJ spiller is the only one I can think of hay he's put into the league with much success.

Wayne Gallman and Andre Ellington. Those three guys have been multiple year starters for Dabo and all have been drafted.

Gallman was drafted this year in the 4th round

Ellington was a former #1 APB who was drafted in the 6th round and has never eclipsed 700 yards rushing.

Butch hasn't been here as long as Dabo has been at Clemson so he hasn't had as many backs drafted, but I think he has done a lot better job with his backs. Gillespie deserves a lot of credit for that. There isn't a running back coach in the country who I would trade him for. In his first year here, Neal ran for over a thousand yards. Hurd has reached that mark as well and would have became our all team leading rusher and been drafted had he stayed the course. Kamara was just drafted, and Kelly could be next year with a big year.

I think Clemson put all their eggs in the Zamir White basket and didn't recruit many other RB's this class. So now they're playing catchup building relationships.

Also, Clemson has a different style with offers than UT. They don't hand out offers to everyone they're recruiting. It seems like in many cases, unless the player is super elite, they don't "offer" unless they feel confident about a commitment. I could be wrong.

I'm just listing RBs he's put in the league. Ellington has had a decent pro career and is now transitioning to WR. Gallman may never pan out, but the point is that Dabo has put every starter of his at RB in the NFL. I'm not arguing how successful they've been in the NFL.

Yeah I get that. I'd forgotten about Ellington.

It just seams like RB is one of the spots they haven't really gotten anybody drafted highly or to have a very good NFL career at yet.

Spiller did have some good seasons though.

Lyn-J is the next great Tennessee running back, right after John Kelly. Clemson is back to Clemsoning, no more Watson, so in the immortal words of some late 80s, early 90s band,Soul II Soul, "back to life, back to reality"

You're right in the fact that Clemson is a lot more selective in making offers. According to 247, Tennessee has given 359 offers while Clemson has only given 100. That's impressive considering they still typically get who they want with such fewer offers given and still have a high ranked recruiting class. For example, last season they only had the 16th ranked class while we had the 17th, but Clemson had an average of 91.97 with 14 recruits, almost 5 full points ahead of us, and we had 28 recruits.

Now I do think schools have different strategies when giving offers, but it is interesting when you look at the numbers. I also am unsure if it counts "offers" that are uncommittable.

You don't think Chandler will be a great back?

Yes, I do. In fact, Chandler may be even better than Lyn-J as a pure rusher, but I think Lyn-J will give UT a little more in the passing game. Quite honestly, I forgot about Chandler but I love him , too. Now, UT just needs a bull to compliment these speed and all purpose backs like, I don't know, maybe BJ Emmons. I kid that is already 230 pounds and has thighs like the "Cheese", Travis Henry.

Even if we don't add Emmons to UTs stable of RBs,UT is in good shape for years to come. But, with Emmons, oh man, the East will be our b!tch !

From practice talk so far, sounds like tim jordan may be that "bull" youre looking for. hes only 195 right now but apparently he showed up jacked and has looked good. I bet he could put on 15-20 in his time here being 5'11.

Not wanting to be a Debbie downer, but it's not been padded practices. I'm hoping he's as good as advertised as well but it's one thing to look the part and another to perform.

We better keep him. Imagine this kid teamed up with Chandler next year! Add in Grant and Jordan and look out
