'18 IL TE Luke Ford

A lot of kids leaving Athens underdeveloped....all those freshmen y’all were trotting out lastnight on defense were rail thin. S&C May be lacking as well in Athens, Lecounte still weighs 170 two years later and is going to kill him self throwing his body into players with no form whatsoever
When you recruit the way UGA has there will always be kids who leave for more PT. Ford was homesick and missed his dying grandfather, which also happens. Comparing Kirby to butch is a bit hilarious, but maybe I don’t remember butch’s SECC or playoff win. Kirby exceeded expectations his second year and met them his third. It’ll be interesting to see how he does in 2019. It’s funny to me that ppl say he isn’t good since he hasn’t won a natty yet, but he’s only coached 3 years. It took Saban 10 years to win his first natty and Dabo about the same time.

Guess Kirby is also, since he won a playoff game year 2
I never claimed he was. I said it’s a dumb argument to say he’s bad because he hasn’t won a natty by year 3. At this point it’s too early to know. 3 years isn’t a good sample size for determining whether a coach is good or not.

Who said he’s bad? Those acting like there is this Bama type gap between UGA and the rest of the east sounds just as dumb

Gap in terms of what? Talent, if you base it off recruiting rankings, then yes. Coaching? No. Again, kirby’s a third year head coach and has nowhere near the knowledge or experience of Saban.

Spot on...I think Kirby will eventually win it all at UGA but he will have his growing pains that come along with having such a high profile job as his first HC spot.

I think he could. He recruits well enough to put himself in the conversation every year. Still, Gus had a great first(?) year and never really replicated that success. Right now convincing arguments could be made either way on whether or not he’s a “good” coach or not. 3 years just isn’t enough time to know.

By sheer #s, there is 5 in the portal so far? And notsaying that is a bad thing. Honestly, expect more. If you have guys that either a) aren’t good enough to play/won’t play or b) hasn’t bought in, thus do you really think he helps the culture? So, sometimes it addition by subtraction and Pruitt will replace them with better options.
Wait what? I thought we only had one player in the portal since Jordan Allen withdrew his name

Ford is a good pick up for Illinois. I like what they are doing right now, and UT fans could take a couple of pointers from them. Illinois admin invested the money in Lovie Smith and they are giving him time to put his stamp on the program from top to bottom. This is only his third recruiting class, and they are supporting him, and the players are starting to come now. You gotta trust the coach and let him implement his style and personnel.

Wait so Nauta and Ford are both leaving lol they finally realized the TE gets no love

I’ll get a laugh if Nauta is a beast in the league and Ford kills at his next school

Honestly wouldn't surprise me...I HATE how under used the TE is in our offense. It's like they are always the 4th option or are kept in to block. I think Woerner is a better pass catcher than Nauta if he can stay healthy

Man Ford and Nauta both left

And it’s because their talent was wasted y’all barely use the TEs

To say they left for any other reason is false

lol saying Nauta left for anything other than going pro is ridiculous and ford left because he was homesick and has a dying relative. If you weren’t biased you’d be able to see that. Honestly, what sounds more logical to you? That a kid wanted to earn enough money to make sure he and his family were set for life and an 18 year old got homesick or two kids, one who’s been there 3 years, decided to leave because they disagreed with an OC who won’t be there next year?

Nah, I like the first storyline better. So which OC are you saying won't be there?
