Valentin and Jahmir Johnson were HS teammates? Nice.

I don't say this often but I really feel good about landing these two. We got such talented recruiters just feel real confident that these guys are going to reel in some nice talent in this class.

It’s obvious how the staff feels about the current O-Line situation

We all do. Weakest of all positions on a team full of weak positions. Hate we have to go the JUCO route, but it just confirms what we all think we already knew....it’s Trey Smith and really nobody else who can play at a high SEC level based on what we saw last year. Hopefully there’s 1-2 on the roster that can be salvaged/developed with the right coaching.

We will find out if they are as good as advertised;; but it may take a full year to do it.

Not saying this class will be top 10 or even top 15, just saying I believe they will bring in some really good talent in this class. Yes its late and that is against them just think we will see some really cool recruits in this class. Give them a full year, wow! No telling.

I’ve been told west Philadelphia is pretty rough. Couple of guys are up to no good. Making trouble and what not.

I knew a guy who’s mom got scared, sent him to his aunt and uncle to live in Bel Air.

Hopefully Richmond will come on strong next year and solidify a starting spot with some authority! He was too highly touted to be such a bust! I really do believe it was the coaching that hampered our whole team!!! Let's just hope CJP and company can get it ironed out. These Juco linemen could solidify a very good team for us next year, IMO. Blair was another five star Juco that was a complete catastrophe under the Jones regime. I do not think it's a coincidence.

I think That Richmond will either be the most improved player on our team next year or not make it through fall camp. He has all the physical tools but out previous coaching staff lacked the ability to establish toughness. Some players naturally had it like Trey Smith, but other players were able to just get by. That's why Blair and so many other bug guys just never developed. Players don't have the option to not be tough on this team anymore.

Pittsburgh Central Catholic still being allowed to run the table to states regularly is a travesty.

Bethlehem Catholic (AAA), St. Joes Prep, and Archbishop Wood (AAAAA) in the East are just as bad.

Shumar from Vandy went to Central Bucks West another tough football school outside Philly. Simon Gratz in North Philly also produced some good players who went to SEC schools.

I think we get this kid, Trey has some pull and u wouldn't want to disappoint him.

Btw, would Mark Jones be the last great Vol from Pennsylvania?

If I'm not mistaken, Brown got dominated MOST of that game! Anyway, considering he was a vfl, we should have taken the chance on him, anyway. The guy was a monster, he weighed like 350 lb and if I remember correctly, that was an issue. He was also a legacy! I also remember his scholly being pulled just a week or two before Signing Day, if I remember correctly.

It was days away. HS coach had a contact at Oklahoma. Brown had to complete several classes in the Summer and barely qualified. Been a solid student ever since. IIRC he was at 400 LBS his junior year.

The Vols will host several JUCO offensive tackles this weekend, including Johncarlo Valentin. The 6-foot-5, 340-pound guard at ASA junior college in New York was an Oklahoma signee in 2017 but failed to qualify. He’ll graduate in May and Tennessee will be his first OV during a new recruiting cycle.

“Tennessee is a program that I was interested in high school. It's a school I know about. Everyone talks about what a great place it is. I want to go down there and see if I fall in love with it,” he told VolQuest.

One of those telling Valentin how great it is at Tennessee is sophomore offensive lineman Trey Smith. Smith and Valentin have known each other for a couple of years and spoke earlier this week.

“I got to know him at The Opening,” Valentin said. “We hung out there together and we have stayed in touch. I actually talked to him yesterday.”

Valentin said he spoke to new offensive line coach Will Friend on Monday and set up the visit. It will be his first official visit in a recruitment that's just getting started. “I don't get out of here until May,” Valentin said.

“I'm going to sign in February. I don't know where else I'm going to visit right now. I'm open to anyone.”

The issues with Richmond seem to be the very criticisms that we heard when he was recruited. He was a 5 star on talent but needed development and learn to get a mean streak. As I have stated before, I know an assistant HS school coach here in Memphis at a great football school. They scrimmaged Richmond's team his senior year, and he felt like Richmond was a better guard prospect. I am beginning to think that he might be correct. Let's hope coaching can fix it.
