Report: JUCO OT No Longer Visiting Tennessee | Rocky Top Insider

"David Swaby is a 6-foot-9, 315 pound offensive tackle who plays for Navarro College in Corsicana, California. He was supposed to come visit the Vols this weekend on an official visit. But according to a report from 247Sports, Swaby will no longer be coming to Knoxville this weekend like originally planned."

“(Tennessee) called me this morning to let me know they found another guy that was gonna go there for sure,” Swaby told 247Sports, “and they expressed how sorry they were about everything.”

Swaby failed to mention who Tennessee found that was “gonna go there for sure” in the interview. There haven’t been many reports about Tennessee for sure pursuing any grad transfer offensive linemen or any other JUCO linemen besides Swaby lately, but there are plenty of options for the Vols on the grad transfer front at that unit.

Anyone have any idea who they are talking about? All I know is we need some big bodies at OT or we're gonna have to go get van load of QB's to make it through the season.
Trey Wallace hinted on Twitter that it could be an OL transfer from Alabama.

Based on the information available on this guy, it sounds as if he is pretty raw and will need to be developed. With the state of our OL, I think the last thing we need is to take reps and time away from others with a project. As good as his size is, he is probably better suited for a smaller school rather than the SEC.

2/3 of all juco signees never start at power 5 schools.

We don't need more jucos

Is that any different than HS signees? If we had 85 HS signees on the roster only about a quarter of them would start. Even if they were all 5 stars. I didn't want this guy and don't want to go the kstate route with jucos. But I'm not completely against it. Yer stat may be accurate but it's missing context. I think Pruitt has been pretty selective with the jucos he's targeted. Most of them seem like good prospects (Jordan Allen, Dominick Anderson, Emmit Gooden and Jahmir Johnson have potential to make an impact this season even if they don't start). And many of them still have 3 years to play which makes them kinda like hybrid juco/HS recruits. In theory they would be more mature physically and mentally than a HS kid, but unlike regular jucos have most of their eligibility left.
