In 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 Memphis has not broken the top 65 in recruiting. Safe to say there is pretty much no talent there.

Memphis was 57th in 2010 and 66th in 2011. Who was there those two years? Larry Porter, who is a good recruiter. It doesn't matter where their ranking is; it matters where they are compared to their peers. Memphis had better classes those years than Temple, Tulsa, SMU, and Houston in one year and on par with UCF.

I have lived in Memphis for 30 years, and Fuente inherited some decent talent from Larry Porter, especially on defense. Again, the one question will be if Fuente can recruit because your numbers above are while Fuente has been the coach. He is a great at X's and O's.

Who recruited Lynch?

Didn't get recruited much. I think he was injured either his junior year or part of his senior year, but his high school offense didn't throw much.

Weiss apparently wanted him when he was the OC at UF / was recruiting him.

When he left for Kansas, UF hired Pease as replacement OC who passed on recruiting Lynch in favor of recruiting/offering then-HS QB Mornhinweg (whose father was also apparently a friend of Pease's as well).

Tulsa is a team that put 38 on Oklahoma. The AAC is a lot better than most give them credit for.

Memphis star could have been a Gator

Paxton Lynch has emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in college football, while leading Memphis to a 6-0 start.

Lynch is having a big season at Memphis. But he could have been quarterbacking the Florida Gators right now.

During LynchÂ’s senior season in 2011, then-Florida offensive coordinator Charlie Weis saw him play at Trinity Christian Academy in Deltona, Fla., and was on the verge of offering him a scholarship. But then Weis left to become the head coach at Kansas.

WeisÂ’ replacement, Brent Pease, chose to give the scholarship to Skyler Mornhinweg instead. MornhinwegÂ’s father, current Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg, was a friend of PeaseÂ’s. Mornhinweg had also passed for 4,912 yards in his high school career, compared to just 2,099 for Lynch (who played in a run-heavy wing-T offense at Trinity). And Lynch had missed much of his senior season with a knee bruise.

PeaseÂ’s decision turned out to be a bad one. Mornhinweg started three games for the Gators in 2013, and never passed for more than 122 yards in a game. He transferred to Columbia after last season.

Meanwhile, Lynch has thrown for 7,006 yards and 44 touchdowns in two-and-a-half seasons, and is currently ranked 10th on Mel KiperÂ’s most recent Big Board for NFL prospects.

In your opinion he is right, in mine he is wrong. Fuente plays cupcakes for about 75-80% of their schedule. He doesnt have to play the kinds of teams Butch has to week in and week out.

And he plays with cupcake talent. Do you really not see that it's all relative? He's not using an SEC roster vs AAC rosters.

No 2010 guys should be there and few if any 2011 guys so this is his team at this point. He also inherited 51 scholarship players his first year, 4 of which were kickers and/or punters. So, 47 positional players is the definition of dumpster fire.

Exactly my point.

It was rhetorical. Wtf is wrong with you people? Doesn't matter the circumstances Fuente offered him.

If we were to play Memphis that game is going down to the wire imo.

Doubtful. Their defense is pretty bad and they would not be able to stop our run game. Dobbs would look like a world beater against them. Our defense is good enough to handle them if everyone is healthy. I still think we would steamroll them.

Their coach is better than our coach by a loooooooong way, and their QB is better than any QB in the SEC. Those two factors alone make your constant predictions of a blowout absurd.
