'18 MS CB Jaylon Reed (Former UT commit)

1v1 at the opening is a bad way to judge talent lol. There's no time limit on when the QB has to throw. Half the time the "wow" plays where a WR beats the DB would result in a sack in live action.

The db's vs. wr's at the opening is a joke. It's like streetball.

Some guys are getting beat and others aren't even close on any routes.

I agree WRs have a huge advantage especially with it not being a timer on their routes. But a DB needs to at least be in the area of a WR.

I think they need a 4 sec. timer on the qb. The wr's would have to get all their juking and jiving done or miss the catch window.

We give them 5 seconds in our 1 on 1s. I ban double moves and 5 yard routes. My WRs improved greatly with this style. They are forced to run real game routes.

We do 3 secs as this is real time pass rush. If the Wrs do all tge feet shuffling and juking play is dead. This is the direct results of 7 on 7 and silly coaching. Michael Irvin told a draft prospect on NFL network if you're shuffling your feet at the LOS you already helped the Db win on the play because you already lost timing.

I like 5 secs so the DBs won't get used to a pass rush being there all day. Three seconds means your D-line super nasty. Lol

Also the 3 secs teaches the qbs to stop the bad habit of patting the ball too. Also unless you're playing a very bad team, 3 secs is baseline. We only allow Middle school rxtra time like 4 secs. A major issue we've learned BB is kids hv very little knowledge of the route tree. Thus they do all the extra to cover that up.i hv been close to the Titans, Steelers, and a few other NFL programs due to knowing coaches. Well the 1st yr Whisenhunt took over the Titans he told Jefferson that Kendall Wright couldn't freelance and needing to run NFL routes. In talking to Jeff and Kendall thus was because at baylor and in hs he was allowed to just create and get to space so to say. Whiz said no and KW went doen hill from there. A lot of hs guys are allowed to do this and it really hurts them down the line.

With our Dbs we do off and on ball coverage. A lot of kids love to press but don't do it right. They just attempt to bully a Wr. We hv Brent Alexander teaching our guys so we are blessed. He dies a drill where they use a band to restrict the hand use and its all hips and eyes. This teaches the Db to learn how to read the Qb and Wr.

This mess they run in camps is silly. Like spraying a cockroach with Raid

Never works in a game

They learn off coverage with me first. I make them play 6-8 yards off and work. Off coverage helps with Zone coverage and all so I'm keen on making sure they develop in that area.

We run straight route tree action. You will be put out if you are looking to run your own garbage slick double move stuff. Waste of time running all of that trash. They watch OBJ and try his stuff not knowing he's one of the most athletic dudes in the league. And another thing he's getting into his routes extremely fast.

I had Brent Alexander as a math teacher several years ago. Good dude, more passionate about teaching than football despite being a former NFL player. His son was cool too, great leader.
