'18 TN ATH Joseph Norwood

I will never understand posting this kind of stuff without being 110% sure you are correct(as in eyewitness). You are possibly ruining a kids life for what you heard from someone else. What if it was your kid? This country just loves dirty laundry, doesn't matter if it's all true or not the whole damn country just wants to hear it. In the end there may be some truth to the gossip but in almost all cases every person that recited it added a little. I'd like to be able to say I expect better but the sad truth is the world being what it is, this is exactly what I expect.

Is this where you enter the word ‘Schiano’? Did you write this same thing for him? Just genuinely curious.

That’s not entirely true, he was charged. He was one of the three names in the news, that isn’t ‘rumor’, that is fact. Whether he pleaded out, found innocent, or the terms are what is under wraps due to being a minor. He didn’t play his jr year, suspension, was he in juvenile? That part is speculation or hearsay. The crime did happen, not a rumor, how much did this guy partake? I don’t know and frankly don’t want to know bc what happened to the child is sick. Only he knows what he did or didn’t do but HIS name is on the court documents. Doesn’t make him innocent or guilty and he could have been found innocent but he did go to court.

Let’s see these court documents then. Court docs are either public or not. Since you say his name is on them, then they must be public.

Entirely possible this situation was a prank that one person took further than the others thought was happening. It's a bad situation but entirely reasonable to think some involved didn't mean for it to go that far and deserve forgiveness

No it's the fact that there is no credible confirmation that it was him. The only thing out there that names this kid is a blog. If it turns out to be true then say whatever you want but condemning a kid based on an unconfirmed rumor can ruin what is possibly an innocent kids life.

Norwood has never served any time. You would think the guilty parties would have been at least processed. So you have a blog naming him and redacted court documents.

They have time before fall camp, even if they haven't already, to fully look into this and determine if he was involved. That's one way they benefit from this blueshirt - if they determine there's too much going on here with this whole situation, then they can cut ties with Norwood and not have him count towards any class (so long as they cut him before giving him his scholarship on day 1 of fall camp).

And it's been said already, but again, he's a blueshirt candidate right now so Pruitt and Co can look around and try to add to the class. They're not just taking spots away from the 2019 class for kicks and giggles. If they can't find a grad transfer or diamond in the rough for this 2018 class, then they'll count Norwood (& Davis) to the 2018 class. If they find someone they deem worth it, they'll let these two guys blueshirt.

Big stretch comparing paying a public figure $4 million and entrusting him with the fate of your football program to honoring the football scholarship of a kid who may or may not have participated in a crime when he was a freshman in high school. Different leaps of faith.

Where are you seeing HIS name on the court documents?

He went to court to hang out? The burden of proof is on the court system, did they prove HE was one of the three as the victim alleges? I do not know. Up to the court to decide. But, if he was, do you want him on this team?

As far as Schiano, they didn’t even interview him but did hundreds of others. Absolute zero proof he knew anything. Did he? Same deal as Norwood. I wasn’t there so I do not know. Up to courts to charge and convict but he wasn’t charged with knowing or doing anything. I don’t chose to use my moral compass on one and not the other.

Lol, has anyone actually read this blog. AnnaRocket has started a new topic discussing this situation. These are people who sit around and cast judgment on people because they watch a lot of ID channel and 48 hours. Kinda like some in here think they are real recruiting scouts.

Annarocket found Bigfoot once.

I'm not wanting to start anything, but "he who will not be mentioned" may or may not have known of a crime 20+ years ago. sounds like the same thing. just saying

I'm not sure what Voldemort has to do with this but I think we can all agree that he's a trash person.

Pretty sure when transferring you are ineligible for 12 months according to TSSAA

Did he miss his jr year for suspension or tssaa transfer rules?

I'll just leave this right here...

You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. It is written: “ ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’ ” So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.

Tell that to the kid who was attacked.

How about an eye for an eye?

idk what is or is not true. I don't think anyone here does. Until a first-hand individual speaks up, we probably won't know. But, and I think many here agree, if this individual was involved like some are mentioning, I do not think it is in our best interests to have him on our campus, for numerous reasons. Having just vetoed Schiano and just recently getting out of one of the larger and more publicized title IX scandals, I don't think TN is in a position to be giving second chances for these kind of offences. Obviously, this is contingent on these rumors being true. That's all I will say about this, and for the sake of everyone involved, I hope it's just a rumor.
