'18 TN LB Cam Jones

This has been a really odd recruitment. He had a TN offer when he committed to Indiana, and now it's like the classic, "I was committed till _____ came calling."

Weird.

My guess is he likes us, and we like him, but maybe he doesn't like the position we see for him in our future. Whereas Indiana maybe told him he could play his position of choice. And he's back in our favor because either the coaches or the player are softening their stance?

Just a hunch. But you're right... kind of odd how this played out.

He fits the mold of the type of LB we have been recruiting but he may not be a take yet. He probably committed to Indiana just to make sure he had a spot on a power 5 school but if we decide to push for him we will get him.

His film actually looks really good to me. Good athlete, explosive, not afraid to mix it up in the box. I like him quite a bit more than some of the other LB's we are in on.

Agreed, maybe the staff is taking their time knowing they have Can in their back pocket?

I would. No need to rush that one. Same with guys like Antonutti. Just be patient with guys like that. If they can become of a factor with the OT out of Florida they just offered that would be massive.

His defensive tape looks nice. He could add 15-20 lbs and be a killer on the outside. Great burst and he's not afraid to hit someone. Also seems like he would cover tight ends well with his speed and ball skills.

Per Hubbs

Things will likely quiet down over the next week before all the satellite and team camps get going the first week of June. Cam Jones and D’Andre Litaker continue to inch towards decisions, but neither are imminent. As has been teased for weeks, Jones officially decommitted from Indiana on Thursday. The Vols are pushing hard, as is Notre Dame and Arkansas, who could extend offers from both in the very near future.

Strange that neither have offered, unless Rivals and 247 are both late in updating.

Neither have offered him. I think ND is going to wait to see what happens with McGrone first. I hope Tennessee is doing the same. They are right in the thick of it with him and he's a big-time talent. Easily the best looking LB prospect on film that Tennessee seems to have a legit shot with.
