'18 TN OL Jerome Carvin (UT signee)

We need a national publication to do an article on him so we can draw attention to the process Alabama is using in recruiting. If the NCAA is unwilling to do anything about them then we need to expose the dirty side of college football and embarrass them.

I have always said that if Alabama played by the same rules as everyone else they would be on the level of all of the other state schools in the SEC.
Devinner had steered kids to schools other than Bama. He's kind of a free agent scum bucket instead of a bagman for a specific program.

is Lookout Valley still fielding a team of 12?

back when Notre Dame was dog crap, aka before we recruited, we could barely beat them for homecoming.

Not really sure. I think last year they started letting Richard hardy kids start practicing and playing with them so #'s might have went up a little

I have 100% proof. They call parents and roll out the red carpet. Used to bother me but if my county isn't going to support its youth I don't begrudge them going somewhere that will.

Serious question.....how do you possibly roll out the red carpet at SP? Do you take them to dinner at The Pirate? What kind of things do they do that make you say this?

Haters man.... That is all it is.... We hear the same stuff out west here in Union City. If you have a good program people are jealous and look for excuses on why its so good

Fulton is a magnet school. This means that students and transfer to the school to take the classes that only Fulton has. Technically it is recruiting but also legal as long as the students take those classes

I did not say it was not legal. But, yes, what you say is exactly correct.

I was not saying that every good program recruits...but, well, I'll just leave it at that. Some programs have terrific coaches and can get more out of their players than other programs with better talent. So, there is a good bit of good coaching going on also and that is more important in high school, I think.

Ok this isn't like college recruiting. I don't mean to imply that. It's more like you see a kid playing on another team, maybe one or more of the coaches know the kids father or another relative. They say "hey, your son would have a much better chance for success here than he would where he is currently going to school, why don't you guys come visit and see what we have to offer". So you go and check it out, they show you how much the community and administration supports athletics and academics, you may watch a practice or some workouts. Explain how your son would fit into the team, how he would be used. "We go deep into the playoffs every year and there are college scouts there".

That's about all there is to it. Coaches aren't out pounding the pavement or flying helicopters into kids games or riding them around in a limo taking them to fancy dinners.

The vast majority of the team is still local kids. They just pull in a few kids here and there that can help. I don't think it's some evil scheme.

*edit. I should also point out that there are instances where the family inquires about the possibility of transferring too. It isn't always the school that makes first contact. When you have years of success that happens.

You don't know me and you obviously didn't read my posts. I don't know jack about Union City. But I DO know about the subject I'm talking about. I don't need to make up excuses as to why they are good. I know why they are good. The community supports and invests in the program.

I'm far far from a hater. I said it used to annoy me but that isn't the case anymore. In fact, although they are a "rival" school, I admire the fact that the whole community supports their kids. A couple of them are friends of mine and I'm happy for them that their children have a school and community that helps them.

As I said previously, my county can't stop bickering with each other long enough to work together for the betterment of our youth. I believe in community pride but that only takes you so far when thinking about what is best for your child and their future. That sounds like a hater to you?

you are 100% correct on community embracing there local programs help's make them good. didn't mean to sound like i was calling you out ... I was just trying to make a point on the general point of recruiting at successful public football programs

So does this Carvin guy's school recruit? Any reason to hijack his thread over HS recruiting issues?

Bama still pulling him from our grasp?

It's all good man. I understand your point. Just wanted to clarify that I wasn't trying to hate on them.

I think every tennessee high schoil football follower has heard of SP. Just a small town small school with a very rich tradition. Only team holding them back this year is coalfield. Will be a good game

Per Hubbs

The 4-star offensive tackles is still a UT lean after a great return visit for ‘Orange Carpet Day.’ He’s maintained constant communication with UT coaches, especially Walt Wells and Butch Jones. Having said that, Carvin continues to remain enamored with the process. He’ll visit Alabama next weekend for their Champions Cookout and then will make his way to Michigan for the Big House BBQ. If Carvin sticks to his preseason timeline, then the Vols should be in solid shape, but the longer this goes the more teams Tennessee might have to combat moving forward.

Tweet from Jordan Davis and Jerome Carvin:

"Big BD up in the house smelling like Bacon. I'm following him wherever he goes. Love me some Bacon!"

Sad to say but around here (Memphis) if Ala wants a lineman, they usually get him. Bama takes several linemen every year from this area.

Not accurate at all. The last lineman Bama signed from the Memphis area was Brandon Hill from Collierville in 2012. That's hardly taking taking several every year. Since 2012 we have beaten Saban out for Jason Carr, Drew Richmond, and Trey Smith.
