'18 TN OL Jerome Carvin (UT signee)

“He is close with Alabama commit Jordan Davis. They came to Tennessee's Orange Carpet Day back in June and continue to discuss their recruitment together. With Pruitt being instrumental in Davis picking Alabama, Carvin can see the Vols becoming a factor for his friend.

"For sure they will," Carvin said. "I have spoken to Jordan and he said they are coming hard at him. I think they (have a shot) at him. When I talked to him, he said Pruitt was his guy."

Carvin will decide over the next 10 or so days between Florida, Auburn, Mississippi State and the Vols. Tennessee's limbo-like last month with a lameduck staff put them behind the 8-ball so to speak, but they have quickly re-emerged as a contender for the 4-star lineman.

"They are definitely up there now," Carvin said. "I hope to commit sometime before I sign on the 20th. I'd like to commit on the 18th or 19th."

Two biggest needs without a doubt. Would be key to bring both these guys on board.

Its been great hearing all the talk of the new staff and the new offers. I just hope CJP is able to pull some of these guys to close the class.

The previous relationship with some of the newest Tennessee staff members is a strong perk for the Vols. He didn't know new offensive line coach Will Friend, but that is quickly changing. He has learned what Friend is looking for and he believes he can be just that.

"I continue to hear good things about coach Friend," Carvin said. "I've spoken to him and he told me where he's been. He told me that he wants offensive lineman that have some "Dog" in them and he needs me. He is coming by my school and then coming by my house too."

Friend and Pruitt are expected to be in-home with Carvin on Tuesday. Tennessee's new staff has done a nice job building a quick relationship with both Carvin's mom, who lives in Texas, and his dad in Memphis.

Another perk is his longstanding relationship with current Vol offensive linemen Trey Smith and Drew Richmond. All three are from West Tennessee and so the bond they share runs deep.

"I talk to Drew and Trey every week," Carvin said. "They are excited about the new staff. I like those guys a lot and we have built a nice strong friendship. The thought of playing along side those guys is nice and there is a comfort level with Tennessee because of them."

Mitch White says he’s UOV to Florida this weekend and really likes Mullen. Thinks it’ll be hard to overcome. He does recruiting stuff for miss state
