'18 TN OT Max Wray

I'm in the middle- rankings matter to an extent but they aren't everything. Point is if Trey has it, there's no shame in letting him play/start. Cam Robinson started day 1. I'm pretty sure Chance Warmack and Andre Smith did also for Bama and even more than them.

Why would Alabama, the standard of CFB right now risk playing freshmen on the line? Bc if they're good enough, it doesn't matter how old they are.

I would be worried if we had multiple underclsssmen/Freshmen on the line but if Trey started, it wouldn't bother me.

I agree..if Trey is good enough to win the spot..just because he is one of those trancendent talents. That is more than fine with me. I think the kid is going to be a great UT OLineman, and play in the league barring injury. I just think there are some guys in front of him that are going to play in the league also...barring injury.

I think if Trey starts then our OL is gonna be really good because it will mean that he has beaten out some really good, talented upper classmen to take that job. And it means that he is what we hoped he was.

Either that..or..it means that those really good UCs are injured...

Smith has been impressive in film study and in weight room work and some think he will make a push at guard right out of the gate
Volquest War Room 3/10/17

Wells said he'll start out at Tackle. I'll go with his actual coaches answer.

I just keep wondering why the switch was even made.

But, you live and learn. A part of living is making mistakes. And it looks like Butch learned from it. Which is what I wanted to see.

Unfortunately, this mistake was really egregious. Which, was then, compounded by a ton of injuries. And, we still finished 9-4. Oh what might have been.

that's where the strength and conditioning program failed them all. They'll be ready this year. I have seen the guys and my goodness what a great change has come over those bodies in Knoxville. I for one was so angry with Kyle when I saw him at our Alcoa camp last year. I'm 40 yrs old and he was looking as bad as me.

Kyle prob not the best example considering he has had shoulder surgery every spring and don't recall seeing him ever having a full workload since being at TN. Plenty of other examples to use with that pathetic moves so dumb to cut Lawson in a big year without being able to replace with experienced guy.

Hall didn't look like he had lifted a weight since freshman year. Looked exactly same. JRM and Sutton bodies looked weird to me when I saw them vs App St. Looked like bad weight. McDowell somehow went from a Saftey to a LB with what looked like beer belly.

Don't sell yourself short - I'm sure you look worse than Phillips!

Comb juice'll mess you up!

I should have known 4 or 5 pages of posts since I was gone was too good to be true. :)

Anyone have any info on Wray since all the CB for Bama started pouring in?

It seemed to me to be largely based on timing. Wray visits Alabama and then subsequently opened up his recruitment. I haven't seen any legitimate information that states that Alabama is the favorite now but maybe it is wishful thinking on my part.

Article on 247 saying he has scheduled a visit. I hope he is not trolling UT. Mays, Smith, Wray all on the same line would be Bama-like.

Wray and his family — including his younger brother, Class of 2020 offensive lineman Jake Wray — visited Texas on Monday, and his father said they are planning to visit LSU on Wednesday and Thursday before returning to Tennessee next week for his first visit with the Vols in more than a year.

Guys are really in Max's ear. One of those guys is his brother Jake who likes Wells a lot. So Max is listening and things could become really interesting.
