****, what kind of depth are they hitting with that? Good form?

Not going to lie, those numbers are pretty hard to believe. Amazing if true though.

I was squatting that in high school... Of course I was no where near the specimen Teague is

With good form?

I see people rack up ridiculous weights all the time. It is much rarer that I see someone squat with good form.

My weight coach was supervising and he was a stickler for form. So yes it was with good form

Bravo man. It's always nice to see someone doing good weight while hitting depth and not making you think they are going to explode their lower back.

That's just bad posture. Of course it's general bad posture not just workout bad posture.

That is crazy, I hit 405 for two reps as a junior in school but 500 is nasty. My brother just hit 565 in a meet recently but he has been doing powerlifting training for like three years now. Hopefully the kid is careful. There is not really any need to go any higher than that right now.

Most don't hit proper depth. Most HS squat videos I see end up being quarter squats.

Powerlifting competitions are a good way to make sure you go low enough...always flirted with the red lights but was able to get through with at least one good attempt.

Kamara repped 550 at 205 lbs, when he first arrived at UT.

Yeah, that is what I was more so wondering about. Hitting 90 degrees or going sub-90 makes hitting those big numbers much more difficult.

I know it works from a muscle building standpoint, but I don't believe in going past 90. Too hard on the knees. As someone who did squats with improper form at a young age and has had back problems since, it's important to me to have good form without doing anything unnecessary that could cause injury. I know lots of high school coaches still want the kids to go past parallel, I just don't think it's a good idea because they will likely pay for it later.

Edit* All you young lads out there doing squats....... ignore this post.

Deep squats are better and safer for your knees.

Yup, stopping at 90 degrees puts a lot of stress on the ligaments of your knee as you force yourself to stop before you went to full depth. My knees are much better since I started going deeper in my squats.

I've just had to step my weight back since it is harder.
