'18 TN RB Master Teague

I like Pittman and think he's a good OL coach...but Chaney is gonna be the problem with that run game as long as he's there. Getting him to commit to the run instead of trying to air it out all day is always a tall order. The older Eason gets, the more I expect to see Chaney try to unleash him and leave some of those UGA RBs on the back burner.

Eason will be lucky to hold onto his job this year.

Until he loses his job, he will be lucky to hold on to the ball. I like that UGA is going to have to keep throwing young QBs into the SEC meat grinder. I mean, I hate it for the young men who should get to RS and learn/grow, but I love that UGA is that desperate.

Yeah Chaney is a qb's best friend and UGA w/o playmakers on the outside threw at a 73% pass/run ratio

At one point last season I'm pretty sure Chubb and Michel went to Chaney's offense and basically demanded he use them more.

Well he must have convinced them since they are staying in school. However if he doesn't use them a lot, I can see a bunch of discontent coming down the pike. Everybody is talking about Eason and their running backs, but what about uga's O-line???? I don't think uga is going to be the dominant juggernaut that some hype them to be, but it's summer time so I am used to this. GBO!!!!:loco:

Also don't forget the TE that was a freshman and had a really good season Nauta will be featured in Chaney's offense too. TEs caught over 20% of EAson passes last yr. Kinda like when we had Mychal Rivera that yr. they'll be fine on the OL, they had to play some young OL guys along with a 5th yr Sr. Pitt will work his mojo and either this year or 2018 they'll be dominant up front.

Nah. The OL is a disaster. Maybe 2018 but not right now. It's young and it's just not good bottom line.

Nauta ripped us up I am pretty sure.

Dude has a severe man crush for Pittman.

And Pittman did a terrible job last year. UGA started 3 SRs, 2 of which were preseason 1st team all SEC and they were terrible. They are probably starting 3 FR this year.

He is probably the most overrated coach in the SEC. He bounced around a bunch of small schools and had a few ok years at UNC. He had 1 year here with a loaded OL and then road Bielemas coattails for a few years at Arkansas. UGA regressed on the OL last year with the same starters.

Not true he had a patchwork unit with 2 guys who had played in a game. Look that up. Richt had kocked out several guys or they transferred from 2 classes. The 5th yr C or G had played very sparringly. Hell they tol like 6 or so OL in their signing class It was kinda lke the UT situation after Dooley, just a much better OL coach. There's no way you're over rated when you're voted by your peers and media as top guy. Per JaWaun, Stone, Zach, Tiny, Bullard, etc he was the best they had at UT then Hiestand or Cregg. At Arkansas he had guys flip that were UT commits and sent them to the NFL. Please stop the silly he left UT so he's over rated talk. The guy is considered elite as it comes in the coaching culture.

Technically he flipped Skipper and Skipper went to the NFL...but Skipper went undrafted.

Edit: Koehler was close to committing to UT and Pittman, signed with Arky ultimately, and never did anything there.

Kublanow and Pyke both were multiple year starters and preseason all SEC. Both started every game last year. Catalina was a grad transfer. Isaiah Wynn started 12 games and he started 13 the year before. They weren't a young OL. Kublanow had 39 starts.

Greg Pyke was listed as a first rounder in several mock drafts prior to last season and Pittman turned him into an undrafted FA.

That might be something to share with an OL recruit that has UT and UGA on his list...

The OL will be the best in the last 4 years and will be even better in 18 and beyond. That is the area where we have recruited the best during the last 3-4 years. Without injuries, the DL would have also been very strong. Look for both lines to play much better than in past years.

It was apparent that de1's source of frustration, or at least the main one, with the staff prior to this spring was Mo. He, like most folks, would have rather Butch kept Pittman on staff instead of bringing in his own guy.

The Arky lines that Pittman coached were good, but how much of that can be laid in Bielema's lap? He had several players there that should have been drafted but weren't. That speaks volumes.

Then, as you stated, he had a pretty decent base of players to work with last year and their OL was swiss cheese most of the year. Now he has mostly younger guys going to start. I think Eason and Fromm may both be good buddies with the turf before they even make it to Neyland this year. When they do show up, our DL will be ready to destroy a couple of young QBs.

Don't let these facts get in the way of Pittman being an all-world OL coach. This discussion is really making me wonder if someone in particular was pushing Max Wray to UGA when he committed there.

I thought that too. Bc he's not right at all.

He's assuming all this about UGA and telling it as fact. Pittman has always stepped into great situations. Then when he walks into a below average situation he's not coaching them up. That poster was right ab UGA having all those preseason all sec OL last yr and they ended up being terrible. This year they aren't any better. Having a crap O Line and a QB with cement shoes never ends well.

Just curious, but who did he flip at Arkansas that went to the NFL? Skipper was not drafted and signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cowboys, who are stacked on the OL. I don't really know what happened to Reeve Koehler. I think he got help from Randy Shannon when they recruited Denver Kirkland from Miami. Just not sure where you were going with that. I have no doubt that he is a good coach, but I do think he is overinflated a bit. He came into a great situation at UT.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't see Darth's response.

Pittman is easily one of the most overhyped assistants in the SEC. Went into great situations at both Tennessee and Arkansas and then you have the Bielema factor who has had great OL's everywhere he's coached regardless of the OL coach. Seeing how far guys like Skipper and Pyke fell after where they were being projected earlier in their careers says a lot IMO.
