'18 TN WR Tykee Kellogg

Oh man me too. It's embarrassing to think about some of the things I did, mostly having to do with girls.

Please. Stop. I just turned 27. I haven't had enough years of substance abuse between me and the things I did as a teenager to fully forget them yet. You're giving me flashbacks.

Gets his grades in order, yes he will be a vol.

Re-reading this thread, I'm left with the thoughts that he wanted to commit earlier, and announced he would, then decided to hold off. Some suggested the coaching staff might not have been ready to accept him yet. Maybe grades being the reason. Others suggested it would be during the O&W game (which obv didn't occur).

Yet we accepted Shatar despite grade issues. So I don't know if that would be the cause.

Seems like our WR cupboard is filling up with Alontae Taylor, Shatar McClay (could play CB), and Jatavious Harris.

I'm wondering if his not announcing was because he's having second thoughts or interested in other programs, or because the team wasn't ready to accept. I'm really interested in this player and think his size would greatly benefit our younger QB's.

Just wonder whats going on here with him.

That pretty much covers most all possible reasons?

McClay is a DB if he makes it in so I don't think it is a matter of us filling up at WR.

McClay is high level talent that needs a serious structure in place to get him in. They have him way up the board and he would blow up once grades in order becoming a fierce recruitment. They need him on board to motivate to make it and increase chances. I'd say Kellogg is a mix of academics and not ready to take commit

“I’m leaning more toward Texas-San Antonio right now,” Ogle-Kellogg said. “I love how they keep me company and stay up to date with me on everything. Also, playing time is important and that’s why UTSA is so high with me right now because if I go there right now, I’m pretty much guaranteed to be a four-year starter if I stay for four years.”

Also this...

At 6-5, Ogle-Kellogg has unusual height for a high school wide receiver, and he believes he is not done growing yet.

“I’m supposed to be 6-8 by the time I get out of high school, so everything might change,” he said. “I might not go somewhere for football; I might go somewhere for basketball.”

Per Hubbs

The other intriguing position to watch is wide receiver and where Tennessee will go with their final spot. This is clear, they want a bigger body and that potentially opens up the door for Tykee Kellogg, but that's certainly not set in stone at this stage.

We have 6 CB's for Kellogg for us so it's safe to say we have a good chance at landing him. There may be other takes though at WR before we would want to take him but he's in-state & that's what I like about him. Thanks.

Not a take right now, off the field issues and big grade concerns. Thanks.

I knew about his grades but didn't know about his off-the-field/character issues. What type of character issues are we talking about here? Thanks.

Off the field issues do not necessarily mean character issues. I suggest you avoid that step unless you have some facts... Then avoid it anyway. It kind of reeks of gossip.

"We've said on various platforms multiple times that Kellogg is simply not a take right now. He's had some off-field concerns and a few academic hurdles."

The fact that he says he'll likely grow to be 6'8" and might end up playing basketball is reason enough for him not to be a take right now.
