"Coach (Mike) Canales and I have a real good relationship," Cooper told Scout.com. "Even before he offered, we had been texting basically every day and calling twice a week. I had the feeling it was coming and it's really huge, especially with it being my first SEC school and the tradition at Tennessee. It's really cool.

"I haven't been out there before but definitely planning to now. ... I know that their fan base is one of the best in the country from what I've heard and seen."

Nevada has offered. You all may I ask what's important about that. He's from Utah & Nevada is actually closer to his home state school in The University of Utah.

Dude, geography is not your forte. Lehi is just outside Salt Lake City where the University of Utah is located. Wife's employer is headquartered in Lehi. No way the University of Nevada is closer; not by a long shot.

I must have looked at Google Maps wrong then. I thought I seen that Lehi, Utah was closer to Nevada. My bad. I'm always doing things in a hurry on here or multi-tasking. I apologize for that mistake. Thanks.

Cooper said he has known Canales since he was “the one who first saw me throw in person for Utah State” last year, when he coached the Aggies’ tight ends and running backs.

“I kind of have a connection with him,” said Cooper, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 621 overall prospect and No. 25 pro-style quarterback in the 247Sports Composite for the 2018 class. “The first day he got to Tennessee, he texted me and stuff. We kept in touch the whole time, so it was really cool.

“I definitely thought, ‘Hey, this could happen. There’s a connection.’ But I didn’t think that much, because he was the tight ends coach. He wasn’t really the one recruiting me at Utah State. But I saw that he was the QBs coach at Tennessee, so I was like, ‘I’ll shoot him a text, see how he’s doing,’ and then we started texting and all that.

“I guess he showed the offensive staff at Tennessee (my film), and they all liked me enough to offer, so I'm real excited about them.”

“I’ve set dates on the 21st and 22nd of April, and that’s, like, their last spring practice and the spring game, so I’m really excited to go out, see a practice, sit through meetings and everything and watch the game. It’ll be really cool,” he said.

“They said they really like the way I throw the ball,” he said. “I’m, like, a pure quarterback, but also, if I have to, I can make plays happen with my feet. I don’t run a lot, but I can make my own time in the pocket and stuff and make things happen, make plays.”

Excuse a dumb question, but bench press is listed at 205.

That seems low. Is that his one max rep or ??

I couldn't bench past 150 in high school but had a 65 yd max on my passes. Bench is only so important. I could still evade sacks, and chunk the ball. My Squat however was 440 lol

Agreed. There are a lot of quarterbacks who don't get 225 ten times at the combine. With four years under Rock this kid would be on par with most.

Not calling you a liar, but the discrepancy between your bench and squat defies anything logical under the sun.

How was this?

That is a big discrepancy but not impossible. I have long arms and in school the most I ever bench pressed was 215, but could squat 405. I focused a little more on my legs being a basketball player and always trying to work on explosion. Never felt comfortable bench pressing still don't to this day.
