19 students, 3 adults dead in Texas elementary shooting.

Eh, if his goals were to do what he did I dont think it would be that hard for him to save. In all reality even if hes making min wage he could save that in a year with no other expenses.

So a mentally ill 18 year old has the impulse control to save up for a year? I'm just finding it doubtful.

I also wonder why he chose that school instead of the one where he was bullied and laughed at ?

Seems to go against the view that he was saving up for this. The media report claims after a fight with his grandma he went to the nearest school

It’s just odd that he had the money to buy the expensive equipment when poverty has been given as the problem. Nobody is saying it’s not possible. Just that it needs an explanation. Something doesn’t add up and it deserves an explanation beyond speculation

Looks like an M&P sport or something along those lines would have made more sense.

Doubt what?

That if you were mentally ill and living in poverty you’d spend 5-6k on weapons.

The “he was clearly planning this for awhile” claim seems to go against the story itself of a fight with grandma and then hitting the nearest school

You act as if a guy that wants to shoot up a school is worried about his 401k or something.

No kid is. But 99% of kids aren’t worried about that far in the future in general. Especially not enough to save up for months to a year

You’re wanting to compare him to how group X behaves. Their is no group we have any real data on in which to compare him.

That’s fine. But if group x (normal) is unlikely to save that kind of money, isn’t group y (mentally ill) even less likely?

Doesn’t the poverty also decrease the likelihood of saving that kind of money?

Not necessarily. Group Y is on a mission. A little more focused than the high schooler thinking about what factory he is gonna work at in 6 months and if he can get into Elena’s pants this weekend.

That kind of commitment is uncommon for the mentally ill as well. Also the story seems to go against the idea of this being well planned.

Uncommon? You think it takes no effort for a pedophile to rape a kid for years and keep it secret?

You ignored the second part. You’re acting like this was a well planned act. That’s not the story. He first randomly went to a funeral home and starred shooting.

The act wasn’t. Hell, it was shown that wasn’t necessary.

The ability to get the resources needed for the act, we’re minimal.
