19 students, 3 adults dead in Texas elementary shooting.

That's the beauty of opinions. You can't stop all evil. I would be demoralized if I knew a couple armed policemen/SROs could spring into action and miminize the loss of life.

It just isn’t a solution. You, me, or any male can go out and kill 25 people tomorrow with just a little planning. You don’t have enough cops to prevent it.

Mental illness begets mental illness begets mental illness begets violence. Unfortunately we are told we must approve of this mental illness, and instead of offing himself like most of these mentally ill folks do he decided to kill a bunch more people. This is why we need treatment, not "tolerance".

Once of the biggest errors of our era.

100%. If people with perfectly functioning sex organs believe themselves to be the opposite sex, the problem is not with the anatomy but rather with the mind

Nope, I'm not the one that hates LGBTQ folks. That's you. Your comments for frankly years now have shown you are a bigot. Just own it at this point.

I don’t hate anyone. Just because I don’t view homosexuality as a beautiful thing doesn’t make me a bigot. My motto is to do what makes YOU happy. That said I firmly believe all of the alphabets are suffering from mental illness(es) especially the gender dysphoria ones. My girlfriend’s oldest son is gay. He moved to Oregon about 3 years ago. She thinks it’s disgusting and more than anything worries about the religious side of it for him but she loves her son and they talk every day. He’s also diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I’ll add she worked for a gay couple that owned their own business and it was hilarious how they would tell her “personal” stories and she would gag and they would laugh about it.

Why do the same types that hem and haw about things like workplace burnout (and usually they're the ones that do the least work) totally ignore and encourage an illness that provably does more direct harm to its sufferers? It's disgusting and selfish virtue signaling.

You, nor anyone else, have to view homosexuality as a beautiful thing. Most LGBTQ folks just want to be left alone and not have their government regulate them to second class citizenry. My motto is mind your business and don't force your religion on my government. If your religion says you can't do something, cool. If your religion says I can't do something, **** you.

We are detracting from this thread though. How would you address gun violence?

How would you address gun violence?

First we should ask the question "is gun violence a problem"? The white homicide rate in the US varies from about 1.2-2.2 per 100k. That's right in line with Canada and Europe, despite their lack of guns.

How do you explain that?

Correct. We really don’t have a problem.

So have we cornered the market on mentally ill people? We have 49 murders per 100k (just a tick behind Venezuela and right with Jamaica).

South Africa has 35...

Japan has .02.

Huh? 49 per 100k? Where do you get this nonsense. You're off by about a factor of 10

I should have said mass shootings instead of gun violence.

If we do have a serious mass shooting problem, why is it not reflected in homicide rates?

How do you explain the fact that despite easy access to guns, homicides are on the same level as those countries with far less access?

I agree, most do want to be left alone. And most have no problem with someone else being gay, they just don’t want it pushed on them or their kids.

As for gun control, I don’t know what you do. I’m not opposed to some changes but the current laws we do have aren’t even enforced (or people obtain illegally).

Don't even dare to start asking him to dig into the demographics behind those numbers either.
