19 students, 3 adults dead in Texas elementary shooting.

We don't do that because we have a bunch of liberal idiots running the department of education.

Nope. Lawyers and insurance companies are the biggest things standing in the way. The cost to train (even if they've already been trained; someone has to make money off of this) and credential the carrier as well as the rider policy to insure against accidental death and injuries is enough to give school boards pause.

My conscience is clear. I support gun restrictions.

A lot of people here ought to be asking themselves some tough questions.
But what restrictions stop this? Taking my guns, or making it harder for me to buy one does nothing in a situation like this. I don't fuss about the background check, nor for felons not being able to legally own a gun. The anti gun crowd never has an answer that doesn't effect just law abiding citizens.

I'm not so sure about that anymore. I lean more on putting fathers back in the homes, restoring traditional family structure and going back to traditional values.

More cops and arming teachers is not going to do s^^t. We are in a spiritual war in this country right now.
I totally agree. 100%

Of course there are things that can be done to prevent these incidents. If nothing could be done why weren’t they a regular occurrence 20-30+ years ago? Peoples basic nature hasn’t changed that much.

Schools aren't the culture sacred ground they used to be. They've been vilified and drug through the mud collectively to the point that there's no cultural barrier that makes them unattractive.

I would say that isn't necessarily true. You see the Bill Maher viral video from this weekend about the increasing number of people that identify as LBGTQ? Just saying that there has been a lot of things that have contributed to this Mad Max/A Clockwork Orange wild behavior.

Your first sentence was spot on.

Your second sentence left me scratching my head.

And for the sake of wondering: whose family structure, and whose family values? Those get thrown around all the time as cure-alls but no one ever has the gumption to spell out specifically what they mean in full detail.

Mmmmkay .... what can be done to prevent these spree shootings then? Because law enforcement agencies seems to be pretty stumped on the matter.

At least the idiot responsible this time got what he deserved.

Exactly. We need to focus on mental health in America. Thats the root cause.
I've brought this up on here before, but we as a country have gutted mental health care and mental health institutions since the 80-90s. We are relying on people (cops, teachers, etc.) and institutions (jails, schools, etc.).that are not trained to handle this sort of thing to fill in the void left by shuttering mental health hospitals. It is no coincidence that mass shootings really took off after those hospitals and funding were gutted, imho.

Why are we creating so many mentally ill people suddenly? Is it because we are becoming crazier or is it because we are increasingly diagnosing people that may or may not be mentally ill? Or a bit of both?

There is nothing LEO can do, they’re not omnipresent and we don’t want to turn our country into a police state do we?

First thing we need to do is to stop excusing bad behavior as a mental illness to be treated with medication. Return discipline to the rearing of children and stop medicating them.
