"It's been great this spring," Washington said. "I just got the 5-star and Opening invite. I just go out and compete and do know what I know how to do. That's what I can control and I'm glad to see my work paying off."
"It's how recruiting has turned lately," Oakland head coach Kevin Creasy said. "Once his tape is out there, it's hard to not find a talent. We have had guys from all the major conferences and from the west coast coming in to see him. "Tennessee was the first to offer him last fall. I give a lot of credit to Walt Wells, who was the first to really notice him and then he shuts down some guys early last year and it took off. He has been patient and then went out and produced when it was his time."
"I've never seen a coach be that blunt," Washington said, recapping his film session with Pruitt. "It just pushes me to work harder. He's a straight up person and he's not going to kiss your butt. He's going to tell you everything and not just what you want to hear. "He said I just need to be more physical. I have good ball skills, but just work hard to be more physical."
Tennessee needs help at corner in the worst of ways. It's why they have targeted so many in the 2019 class. Washington hears the pitch and he's fully-aware that a player of his skill-set is needed in Knoxville. That's the daily pitch from defensive backs coach Terry Fair. "He texts me every day and we have a great relationship," Washington said. "He tells me they need me and how he wants me to come and visit. It's good to build those type of relationships."
Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Ohio State stand out to Washington. He's hoping to get back on campus for each school in the near future. If you pay attention to Twitter, you will notice that the Razorbacks and their fans continually throw love his way with edits and tweets. He really appreciates those, but tries to keep it all in perspective. "All the edits are cool, but I have to look at where I fit in and what school needs me," Washington said.
