The head football coach at Nolensville is Will Hester, the former head coach at Ravenwood High School. Ravenwood appeared in the Tennessee 6A state championship game the last 2 years - winning it all last season. I think his hiring brought immediate legitimacy to Nolensville High School.

Sounds like Hester took a look at the zoning map and determined his best athletes would now be zoned for Nolensville instead of Ravenwood....

"Huge" is considerably overstating it IMO. He got the ball rolling by being the first commit and he knew a handful of in state and legacy players but I think it's a myth that he was some type of Pied Piper for that 2014 class. The coaches should get the lionshare of the credit for putting that class together, not a petulant, flaky 3/borderline 4 star player who couldn't get on the field as a freshman.

I recall hearing the story about Vic's arrogance at a camp in Dooley's last year. We all know Dooley's history with instate players, but it probably didn't help and a reason why Dooley never offered. I thought it was genius for Butch to immediately offer because I recall Vic having connections, more than just being a nephew of a former Vol. With or without Vic now on the roster, it helped with recruiting. Most of you know that Butch Jones knows what he is doing.

Overstating? Do you realize how easily any decent program in the country could come in here and take the best recruits from the previous staff? Alabama, Florida State, & Ole Miss, just to name three were loving it.

Peer recruiting was a huge part of that class, and Butch stated that. So, your insults to Vic are unfair and unwarranted. As to petulant and flaky, you need to check the nearest mirror.

You don't know what the eff you're talking about. Both my kids, 3 years apart, personally know Vic and have the same thoughts about him.....both separately described him with the same word...it wasn't particularly complimentary to say the least.

I know parents of athletes from Brentwood and CPA who described him similarly and have their own stories of his "character" or better, lack thereof. I saw how he comported himself up close and personal with a complete lack of class with my own eyes on two separate occasions while he was playing basketball for Independence High School when he was a junior....it was unreal, couldn't believe they didn't throw his ass out of at least one of those games.

I recall distinctly a well-connected parent who had 3 sons/athletes at Brentwood highschool who knew Vic well. I'll never forget his prediction that Vic wouldn't last at UT for more than a year when I saw him a couple weeks after Vic committed to UT in December of 2012.....he knew him well, and he was obviously 100% spot on.

And then there's the reason he was run off of CPA's campus......they don't much care for thieves over there, doesn't jive with their mission statement.

I don't deny/disagree that peer recruiting was important to the success for the 2014 class....I just disagree as to how important Vic was to it. He helped with some players, Gaulden and Payne being chief among them. But Hurd was coming here regardless of Vic....as was TKJr, as was Bates, as were the Berry Twins, etc, etc. Coleman Thomas and Ethan Wolf came to Tennessee because of Jones and the staff, not because of Vic Wharton. The most important person in Jashon Robertson's recruitment was by far Jalen Hurd, his childhood friend.

All that being said, the most important/vital person/people responsible for the 2014 class was by far Butch and the staff. Some would have us believe Vic made it all happen and was the key, but I just don't believe that's true at all. He played a role, but he wound up taking on a persona that wasn't quite rooted in reality.

Btw, lol at the 9 year old "look in the mirror" crack. What grade are you in son?

I'm still trying to figure out why he transferred.

Playing time, had an easier route to getting on the field at UC Berkley. I know Vic well, and I know Butch didn't care to much for him, used him as an example a lot and Vic didn't like CZA very much. He was instrumental in CBJs recruiting efforts in helping us get talent here so to thrown shade on the guy is ridiculous. Creamer just transferred as well, as well as many other 4-5 star guys that I don't see us ripping on. Chill......

Couldn't get on the field as a freshman, scored touchdown in Tax Slayer Bowl... Seems legit.

A grade high enough to know you don't come into a thread about a potential recruit, and insult a member of his family. And one high enough to realize that throwing negative rumors and opinions about previous players sometimes does not sit well with the uncles, cousins, and other family and friends of recruits who frequent this site.

No need to cast shade on Vic, he helped our program a lot off the field, best of luck to him.

Really he didn't that's fake feel good recruiting talk. Several around the program at UT said Vic was a dvia and prick. For the record BW2 is very raw and was a DL at his school before Lighthouse. I spoke with dad and invited him to NPA and for him to help out with QBs. Myself and Brandon go way bk to being team mates from 90-95. I still talk to him and his dad as we have stayed in touch over the yrs. I still remember Bobby Bowden telling BW he was the closestthing to Charlie Ward he'd ever seen in our conference room at Overton hs. When he chose UT basketball over football everyone was simply amazed to say the least.

I've known his dad since the 80's ballin when we were with high schoolers at the Bellevue community center when we were 6th and 7th graders. We played bball at Overton together. Brandon, his dad, and his brother are all good people. I can't speak on Vic. But don't throw around bullsh** about the family like you know something based on a rumor that you heard from someone else.
If he is half as talented as his dad at quarterback, we want this kid. Brandon had one of the most amazing plays I have ever seen in high school football his junior year. He spun out of two or three sacks rolled right and threw a right handed strike like 35 yards for a touchdown and a go ahead score to win a game in the last few minutes. #baller #bloodlines #welovethe90s

That play was against Stratford i played with him and I know them all. Brandon transferred from Lebanon to Overton. I don't bring rumors. My nephew played at Independence likewise. Gaulden trained with us. Multiple kids on the UT roster. I know the whole family too have eaten at their dinner table all that. Old man Wharton has come to my business a many of times especially when he was at PC as HC of boys basketball. I have Brandon on speed dial who said his son was very raw and the position was new to him. So I'm not sure if you were speaking to me or not just explaining where my info came from.

Will Hester will make Nolensville HS football into a power. That school is already poised to be great athletically.
