2 QB's

It is what is. It is very difficult to get a kid to leave his family behind and move across the country to play ball. If he does not want be in Knoxville then he needs to stay in Cal. Best of luck to him.

I'm not sore that he chose elsewhere...that's how recruiting goes sometimes. But he PURPOSEFULLY delayed his announcement so he could get the face time on ESPN, while knowing he'd screw us over hard by doing so.

If he wanted to delay an official announcement, that's fine too, but at least have the nads to let our coaching staff know so they can move on...especially since they really stuck themselves out there for this kid. He messed over this staff, and I'm surprised more people aren't hot about this, as protective as they are of CLK.

Rettig and/or Rees would be committed right now if it wasn't for his little stunt.

The coaches knew Scroggins was going to USC at least a week before he made his commitment public on ESPN.

The stupidity is strong with this post.

Rettig and Rees were long gone by then. On the other hand, he told Carroll his decision 3 WEEKS before. Remember during this time, prospects were dropping off the board like flies, and Jesse knew it was late in the game for a program to secure a top flight prospect.
We are in catch up mode now..trying to turn some commitments we lost due to Scroggins little "Look at Me, I'm on ESPN" waiting game.

Yeah, this whole thing was an elaborate plan by Scroggins to screw UT out of a QB. You convinced me.

The facts are there...the words came from his own mouth and we lost out on real prospects because of his little game...period

If you know this to be fact, then good for you. If anyone is to be blamed it should be the coaching staff, IMO.

That wasn't an insult bro, you're posts are filled with misinformed garbage.
Then you give us some facts instead of just throwing insults out there. I was just disappointed, until I heard the interview after he announced. If he knew 3weeks prior that he was going to USC, why could he not have the decency to notify this staff THEN.

I didn't say he PLANNED to screw us...just that he knew he would and still didn't care. He knew other prospects were coming off the board fast during this time.

I am not going to give JS that much credit or assume his intentions were meant to cause harm to UT's efforts. Our coaching staff has been doing this long enough to know what to expect and how these sitiuations can and will play out.

There has to be a silent out there right now. No other reason all these big time WRs are going out and committing.

If the staff wants Munchie they are going to need to put the press on him in the next few weeks or its over.

I'm fairly certain we don't want him despite what Munchie may or may not claim.

As I understand, we haven't evaluated Cam yet, and can't really pursue him much because it would be tampering, similar to what happened with Marve.

Dude, you can't tamper with a JuCo player. You can recruit them at any time after they leave their 4 year school.

I wouldn't want Scroggins at this point...I hope Barkley keeps his fanny cemented to the bench for 4 full years, for pulling the little stunt he did.

He admitted to an interviewer in LA that he told Carroll 3 weeks before he announced that he was committing to USC. During that time, we lost out on Rettig and Rees.
If he had just announced then, or let our staff know, then Rettig would very likely be committed to us right now...and we'd be talking about who the 2nd one is going to be.

Scroggins is a litte punk....yeah I said that.

If the coaches let a recruit dictate who they land at QB then that is their own fault. Come on, guy -- get real. You can't honestly be that dense. The coaches dropped the ball. Scroggins is not a UT recruiter. He has no obligation to help our recruiting out whatsoever.

That wasn't an insult bro, you're posts are filled with misinformed garbage.

This is true.

Gee. And Lane and Pete don't have any sort of connection at all. I wouldn't be surprised if Lane knew about the same time Pete knew (either by way of Pete or Jesse himself), but chose to continue pursuing Scroggins anyway. The staff wasn't sold on Rettig and there's no telling if Rees would have picked the Vols over the Irish.

Seems logical.

If anything at all, I think Jesse and his pops played their hand really well. They used the leverage from the camps and offers to get a chance to compete for a free ride at USC. He went out on the field and earned an offer from the school he wanted in the first place.. It was over then, at that moment. I just didn't want to believe it.

I think that Tenn is really on the mark here. Jesse's delayed announcement was uncalled for and I think it hurt UT and I am saying this as a Trojan fan. If the UT staff was not sold on Rettig than why did they offer as soon as they heard he was going to commit to BC? I think the UT dropped the ball since they were taking two QBs and should have offered Rettig weeks before they did and he would have been yours.

I agree that it could have been handled better, but I don't think it was sinister. He was originally to commit on July 25, but when Milton hit the go button, I feel like JS spazzed and from there it was one thing after the other. I think it gives him too much credit, honestly, to think that he was intentionally trying to screw up our QB situation. Seriously, did he seem like the kind of kid worried about helping his future teammates or a self centered 17 yr ol waiting for days to see himself on TV? I wish him well at USC.:)

They probably knew he was seriously considering committing to BC and wanted to show him a little more so he might delay his decision. And how long did he really delay his decision? Didn't he announce like a day or so after he originally planned?

I agree it was a 3 week delay by the kid and over 10,000post on this site to end up being a 10 second blurb on espn..
