'20 TN SG Keon Johnson (Tennessee commit 8.6.19)

Well we have to keep the "Barnes can't/won't" recruit people held accountable.

I get that, but how many posters still criticize him over recruiting? I did his first couple of classes, but obviously he's going after bigger fish these days.

One of the top 35 players in the country, guard Keon Johnson is down to a final two of Ohio State and Tennessee as he readies to announce his decision on August 6th. Before getting his decision out of the way, Johnson had one last order of business and that was tearing up USA Basketball's minicamp over the weekend. The 6-foot-5 wing was one of the top five performers in camp and it ended his summer on a high note. "Things went great, (USA Basketball) was an amazing experience," Johnson told Rivals.com. "It was an amazing opportunity for me to grow as a player as well as an individual. "My shot and my ball handling. It was a focus for me. I knew that in order to go to the next level I have to continue to develop in those areas."
In late June, Johnson took his official visit to Ohio State and he's plenty familiar with nearby Tennessee. He broke down the visit to OSU and what stands out with them and Tennessee as he nears his choice.
Ohio State: "I had a great visit. I got to meet all of the coaches and their staff. They are basically like a family and are all really close to each other. That's what I'm looking for in a program. The Ohio State connection they have is global so it could reach far beyond basketball if I go to Ohio State."
Tennessee: "I could come in and make an immediate impact as a freshman. The program and the school are great too. Coach (Rick) Barnes is very honest with his players and his player development is through the roof because he's coached many guys and developed them to go into the pros."
When Johnson initially announced his August decision date, Virginia was also included. But, Tony Bennett and the Cavaliers have used all of their scholarships and are no longer in the picture. Johnson said that he hasn't been home enough to feel any real pressure to stay local at Tennessee. However, with a week to go before he announces the Vols are considered by most to be the favorite. While Johnson wouldn't give any hints as to whether or not he is indeed leaning towards staying home, he did say that his mind is pretty much made up as he nears his announcement. "I've got a pretty good idea of what I want to do and where I want to go," said Johnson. "It will be an announcement at my church that will be open to the public on August 6th."

I think he will stay home myself. Be sad that a kid goes to bucki univ. Have a after basketball like there we not be like here on the home turf. JMHO as always!

Then what will be your excuse to dislike Barnes and his recruiting? You already blame him for not signing any and every kid who can point to where Tennessee is on the map, but signs with Florida. How much further down the road will you kick that can?

Speaking of Mike White, he has to be a heck of a recruiter because he is an average head coach. I mean recruits are still buying him after one good season with several mediocre ones.

I think you mean boosters are still buying players for him

100% crystal balls to Tennessee.
U know why, Dal ? Because Keon is getting ready to become an all-time great UT basketball player. Allan Houston with better defense and probably athletic ability, but not the 3-pointer, YET.

Tennessee is four days away from finding out if they’re adding another potential five-star prospect to it’s 2020 recruiting class in Keon Johnson, who was one of the most impressive performers at last week’s USA Basketball training camp in Colorado Springs. Johnson created enough buzz with his play that he’s in line to get bumped up into five-star territory when Rivals updates the rankings, which is where current commitment Corey Walker currently resides.
Johnson hasn’t given anything away, but as we’ve said repeatedly, it would be tough for us to see him opting for Ohio State over the Vols. He’s made just one trip to Columbus, an official visit last month. Meanwhile, starting with an Elite Camp trip after his freshman year in high school, he’s been to Tennessee’s campus in the neighborhood of a dozen times.
He’s from a tight-knit family and it’s hard to imagine that distance isn’t going to be a factor here. Toss in the fact that Tennessee’s program is currently in better shape than the Buckeye’s and this simply seems to be one that’s going to go Tennessee’s way. Adding Johnson to Walker would set the Vols up for what could be regarded as the best class in program history if they can close strong. Now, with all that said Johnson could shock everyone on Tuesday and pick the Buckeyes, though few seem to think that’s the way things are going to play out.

This is the week isn’t it?? Tomorrow or Tuesday? Corey Walker Jr & Keon Johnson 2 potential 5 stars in one class... win 20 games this year make the tourney, and next year is anyone’s guess! With all these great recruits coming in I see big seasons ahead.
