'20 TN SG Keon Johnson (Tennessee commit 8.6.19)

The shorts have been going on for at least a couple years now; not really new news. In my head, I think they would be better for basketball anyway. Makes more sense than longer and looser shorts.
I agree on the looser part, but if they go over an inch above the knee then it just looks bad to me.

These are the perfect length imo. Sorry for steering your thread to britches talk Keon 😂

He has the ball a foot over the rim 2 handed, which is pretty impressive. There may be some optical illusion going on, but I'm sure he can do it any way. Now, I know I'm going to catch hell for this, but I could get 6 inches above the rim, without the ball, with one hand and Keon has 2 inches on me. Of course, that was circa 1989-2000

I need answers as to why the short shorts are making a comeback. What are these kids smoking these days? Lol
Looks way better than those ugly long baggy ones they used to wear imo. I agree with BTO they would be much easier to run it, but I’m not sure that’s why they wear them.

They're coming back because there has been a wave calling for leaner looks and physical improvement in today's athletes. Everyone is about optimizing their health and athleticism. Less drag = more speed, less length = more freedom of movement, etc. They're not the short shorts of the 70s/80s yet but they're definitely not the late 90s/00s shin-length shorts either. It's all about performance today.

Players are now shaving their heads and all of their body hair to get that little extra edge from minimal drag. Need to be careful, too. It's a technical foul if they apply too much body oil.

I am just glad the women never got caught up in the baggy look. I know for a fact that 95% of males that watch women's college volleyball only do so because of the shorts they wear. God Bless America

I hate to contribute to the downfall of America, but if women’s softball ever went to baggy pants they’d definitely lose at least one occasional viewer. 🤣

I'm 6'2" and back (WAY back) in the day I used to be able to occasionally pull off a dunk. Never able to do it in a game, though. I remember for a couple of years walking around with a red stripe on my wrist from attempting to dunk and clanging my arm against the iron while the ball generally rattled through or caromed off down the court somewhere. I can't imagine the hops it would take to get a foot above the rim.

Ah, Clockwork, I'm ancient but can still dunk regularly......when I lower my goal to 8 feet.

Barnes just needs to find the 'Simon' Biles of the basketball world. shorts is shorts.
PS I think Simone could dunk with her feet 4 ft above the rim and upside down.

Johnson, the No. 5 shooting guard in the country according to the 247Sports Composite, improved his perimeter shooting in the offseason. He’s now steadily draining 3-pointers from the corner. He’s pulling up for 15-foot jumpers and making them with ease. "I think he’s always been a good shooter,” Webb coach Jeff Mitchell said. “I think he’s becoming a really, really, really good shooter. But it’s not just habit. He’s put a lot of time in.”
