My question is, people that experienced this boring loss how terrible was it having to sit and watch that game? 0-0 at halftime and then only 3 FG combined were scored. We score on average 10 points a game alone in the 1st quarter now.

I really thought during second half we would win and turn season around to make run at 9 or maybe 10 wins. I wasn't sure why we only played 11 that year.

I will never be convinced that the Anderson fumble thru the endzone nuked any chance we had of winning the next game vs USC.....That fumble essentially ended our season.

I was 16. My first UT football memory was 2003 (14 years old) game in Tuscaloosa.

2005 was like de ja vu for me. Tennessee in a tight game in T town with a Clausen at QB. Literally thought no way we'd lose a low scoring game.

The funny thing about that season is Fulmer took over play calling going into Notre Dame week and he actually called a decent game.

Given how inept the offense was, its wild that we 3.5 losses in one possession games.

I often wonder how that season would have turned out had Ainge not got hurt in 2004 before halftime of ND game.

Boy I remember I was a pumped up 15 year old full of piss and vinegar. Vols took the gumption right out of me that season

Preseason #3. Tennessee was never ahead of Matt Leinart’s USC and Vince Young’s Texas that year in the AP or Coaches Poll.

Riggs broke his hip in that game and never played another snap at UT. Likely cost him a productive NFL career

If we had fired Fulmer in 2005 would we have gone after Saban?

Probably not. Year 1 in the NFL Saban was doing ok. They’d just gone 9-7, missed the playoffs by a single game, and he wasn’t frustrated yet with the comparatively less overall level of control that he’d soon learn he had in the NFL following the 2006 season.

I was 16 and I remember the preseason predictions being USC vs Tennessee in the Rose Bowl. Such a big swing to awful season ha
