I think Montario Hardesty will surprise people this year with flashes of brilliance (hopefully he'll stay healthy). Also, I think Josh Briscoe will make a lot of big plays for us this year. I'm also hoping Coker will show he has the potential to be a great back in the SEC.

Who do ya'll think will be the biggest surprises for the 2006 Vols?

I'm hoping EA surprises me and plays like the second coming of Manning and sends us to an SEC title.

Is that asking for too much??

Biggest surprise of '06? Bringing a retread coordinator and inexperienced position coaches won't fix the offensive woes.

So you're saying this will be a season of zero surprise players for UT? Both from the offense or the defense?

Yeah, thankfully for us we don't put much weight in your evaluation of Offensive Coordinators. Cutcliffe is one of the best OC's (and QB coaches) in college football.

You asked for the biggest surprise. As far as players, Eric Ainge and Arian Foster will be major disappointments.

I'm glad you don't. That way, when the offense stinks again, I can spend all season laughing at the likes of you.

Amen...

Change of subject... anyone else have any surprise players? I'm interested in everyone's opinions.

Yeah, he turned Romaro Miller into a real star at Ole Miss. Also, I'm sure the Mannnings would have failed miserably if they had another QB coach.

I was just wondering... why does your screen name have "vol" in it?

Wow. How does a post concerning who will steal the spotlight for the Vols become such a negative hate-fest?

I think the Cottam bros might end up being a pleasant surprise next year.

I don't know. Maybe because I was born and raised in East Tennessee, have two degrees from UT, contribute a considerable amount of money to the University every year, travel to most road games, and most importantly, because I damn well please. Any more questions?

yeah... are you like an old, angry man who thinks he's badder than anyone else in the world? because that's pretty funny.

No, I'm an angry, middle aged man who's tired of answering asinine, half witted questions about my loyalty to UT because I don't slurp up the party gruel. If you people are happy with the current state of the program, God bless ya. For those of us who actually care about the University and have a stake in the program beyond sitting on the couch watching the games, it takes a little more to satisfy us. Kind of the difference between the guy who's happy driving a Ford versus the guy who demands excellence and ends up driving a Maserati.

Well... I guess you are so much better than many people posting on this web-site. We are blessed to have your presence. All us peasant UT fans bow to you.

Does nobody remember when Cut was here before? People wanted him GONE. A lot of fans thought he was too conservative and was mediocre. Now fans praise him as the savior. If things change offensively, it will be because of maturation from year to year from the players moreso than Cut.

Oh, and:

Overrated: Cutcliffe, Sears, Wade

Underrated: Hefney, Anderson, Fellows

JT Mapu... I love that pick... I didn't even think to post him. The Stormin' Mormon will hopefully come back and be a very delightful surprise.

I'm afraid to post on this thread lest I be stepped on, but I think Turk McBride will be All-SEC.

Turk McBride... I agree with that.

How about Lucas Taylor? Does anyone think he can be a playmaking surprise next season? I think he's got the speed and agility... if he could just hold onto the ball more often!
