After closley going over the 2010 Roster. I have come to realize that the panic for need at the linebacker position may be slightly overstated.

We have some depth there but we need a playmaker or two.

Please hear me out!!! It's not that bad..

Jerod Askew- ......... 6'1" 230lb. RS.Fr..4*(both)
Savion Frazier- ....... . 6'2" 221lb. Sr. * (scout)
Lamarcus Thompson ... 6'1" 220lb Sr. 3*
Herman Lathers ....... 6'1" 213lb Soph. 3*
Robert Nelson .......... 6'0" 205lb RS. Fr. 3*
Daryl Vareen ........... 6'0" 213lb Jr. 3* (He has left) Edit
Nigel M-Thornton ..... 6'0" 229lb Soph 3*
Greg King ............... 6'3" 205lb Soph 3*
Nick Reveiz ............. 5'10" 218lb Sr. WO
Grant Jessen ........... 6'1" 210lb Soph WO
Jaques Smith ........... 6'2" 235lb Fresh 4*
Ralph Williams .......... 6'1" 222lb Fresh 3*
Shane Reveiz............ 5'11" 210lb Jr. WO
Josh Hawkins............ 6'1" 235lb RS.Soph 2*

As you can see, we have some depth and some experience at the position. The position is also filled with youth as 9 of the current 12 are underclassmen.

I think the majority of the information above is correct, if you have differences the please post or ask me to edit.

We also have several coming off injuries so we may need a few inexperienced to play early..

I think O-line is the position that has most of us crapping pine cones backwards.

I don't see Smith playing LB if we hire Joe Barry as DC. He would basically continue Monte's system.

I posted this a while back, back when Taylor was still coming. I think we need one more stud but it is not necesary. Everyone that list can play besides Jessen. I expect big things from Askew. I think people are worried if Sav and Nick can come back from their injuries. That will be a key going into the year. Lathers, Askew, and King are studs and will be serviceable backups to Thompson, Nick, and Sav

Its possible, However all people say he is outstanding from a standing position. You may be right, we'll have to see how he develops size wise. He may get too heavy...

You can add Shane Reveiz, too, especially if you have Jessen on there.

Askew and Nelson are freshmen, too, because they red-shirted.

Yea, LB and RB is about the two positions that should be the least of our concerns!! Barring injuries next year, we should be solid at both!!

Oline, now that's a different story all together!!

Not counting Nick, you still listed two walk-ons, Vereen is apparently gone, and unless we run a 3-4 Smith will not be a LB.

You're right, we have lots of bodies at LB, but how many of them can make plays vs. SEC offenses?

What about Josh Hawkins, 6-1, 223, rising Junior? I don't think he played much (or any?) last year.

I've been confused by this as well. We brought in 4 LB last year and are we're really losing is Rico. One more wouldn't hurt but I agree the panic over LB's is greatly overstated.

Hawkins is a growing boy I hear. He is up to around 235-240 and at 6'1" maybe growing out of a LB body. That is why I did not list him. I will go back and add him.
