Really would be surprised to see Sherman on the A&M sideline next year. Rumors are A&M is 50/50 on the decision, but I fully expect him to be gone.

Latest rumors/news (mostly rumors :))

Arizona State: The hot names are SMU HC June Jones and Iowa State HC Paul Rhoads. ASU reportedly met with Jones on Saturday.

Florida Atlantic: Nebraska DC Carl Pelini is set to become the Owls' new head coach.

Illinois: According to the Chicago Tribune, Illinois may settle on a "Plan B" candidate, such as Wisconsin OC Paul Chryst or Michigan State DC Pat Narduzzi. Oklahoma State OC Todd Monken, a Chicago native, is reportedly in the running as well.

Kansas: Southern Miss HC Larry Fedora is reportedly the main candidate at KU.

Memphis: Pittsburgh Steelers QB coach and former U of M OC Randy Fichtner has been the main name for this vacancy all week. Reports from Pittsburgh and Memphis are that he wants the job, and it appears likely that he gets it at this point.

North Carolina: Auburn OC Gus Malzahn interviewed on Thursday, but it appears that he won't get the job. Boise State HC Chris Petersen and Southern Miss HC Larry Fedora are apparently still very much in play.

Ole Miss: Ole Miss appears to be close to hiring Arkansas State HC Hugh Freeze. Freeze was at Ole Miss from 2005-2007.

Penn State: Mississippi State HC Dan Mullen is reported to be interviewing on Monday.

Texas A&M: Sumlin appeared to be the choice earlier today, but things appear to have slowed down on that front for now. USM HC Larry Fedora and Louisville HC Charlie Strong are also candidates.

Tulane: Names in the mix include Rutgers OC Frank Cignetti, Auburn WR coach Trooper Taylor, Sam Houston State HC Willie Fritz, and New Orleans Saints WR coach Curtis Johnson, among others.

UAB: Hired Arkansas OC Garrick McGee.

UCLA: According to the LA Times, UCLA is focusing on Miami HC Al Golden and Houston HC Kevin Sumlin. They are determined to hire a "name-brand coach."

Just to clarify, Luke Fickell's "interim" tag was removed in mid-June of this year.

That means that Ohio State was pursuing another coach for months while their (non-interim) head coach was still in position and actually, y'know, coaching the team. Somewhere, Auburn and Bobby Petrino are smiling and nodding at this arrangement.

Sounds like June Jones to Zona State.

PAC-12 is undergoing an offensive face-lift.

No kidding. June Jones, Rich Rodriguez, Mike Leach, Chip Kelly. That's a lot of offensive fireworks. (All of which would get completely shut down in a BCSCG vs an SEC champ)

Colorado State HC Steve Fairchild and Fresno State HC Pat Hill were relieved of their duties on Sunday.

Also, Tulane is expected to announce Curtis Johnson on Monday.

He had Fresno competing at a high level for a while. I guess they decided they needed new blood going into the Mountain West. He recruited the Valley pretty well... Don't know what you can expect in a place like Fresno though.

Daily rumor mill...

Akron: DII Wayne State HC Paul Winters appears to be the frontrunner.

Arizona State: In addition to Jones, it is reported that ASU will interview Baylor HC Art Briles, Kevin Sumlin, and Larry Fedora on Tuesday.

Colorado State: There isn't a set list of candidates yet, but former Colorado HC Gary Barnett is rumored to be interested.

Hawaii: Greg McMackin has retired.

Kansas: With Larry Fedora reported to likely be heading elsewhere, Kansas will have to regroup.

North Carolina: Several sources are reporting that Larry Fedora has been offered the UNC job. If it falls through, expect them to pursue Air Force HC Troy Calhoun.

Texas A&M: Sumlin and Fedora both interviewed with A&M on Monday, according to several reports.

UNC hires Larry Fedora (USM head coach).

UMass hires Charley Molnar (ND offensive coordinator).

Memphis is reportedly close to a deal with Bama OC Jim McElwain.

Arizona State: There is some uncertainty surrounding June Jones right now. Some say he is staying at SMU, while others believe he is still in play for the ASU job.

Illinois: Houston HC Kevin Sumlin, Oklahoma State OC Todd Monken, and Pittsburgh Steelers RB coach Kirby Wilson are the main names right now.

Texas A&M: Sumlin, Air Force HC Troy Calhoun, Alabama DC Kirby Smart, and a few others are being mentioned, but several are reporting that A&M's search will be over very soon. Calhoun may indeed be the choice.

Talking about distraction for Bama. If McElwain goes to Memphis and Smart to A&M man. I dont see how even Saban can overcome that before the championship game.
