2011 F Otto Porter

If you can get a player of the quality of Otto Porter, you get him. I don't care who may or may not be waiting in the wings. This guy is impact. He's exactly what CBP always thought he was recruiting: A big, fast, versatile forward who can shoot, handle the ball, score in the post and play strong defense.

This is TENNESSEE not Mizzu State......

Really not being a jerk here.....but due to our position and rivalry with Missouri University (MU; Mizzou), please refer to Missouri State University as MSU, or MoState. We do not use "Z's" in our abbreviations and there is not one shirt in a bookstore that says anything other than MSU, MoState, or Missouri State University.

When the school was Southwest Missouri State University (I am an alum), we saw tv stations butcher the name (SWMOST, SWM, SouthernMOState, SW Mizzou ST, etc.). We went by "SMS" or "SMSU" but for a long time sought a name change dropping the directional "Southwest". We are still very sensitive as the MU crowd intentionally jacks with the name in official publications.

MSU is the preferred abbreviation. Thank you very much for understanding.

Wishing the Vols luck in the future, we loved Zo here and know that he will do a great job at Tennessee.

Otto Porter comes from SEMO basketball royalty. His dad, Otto Sr. was an outstanding ballplayer at Scott County Central (perennial 1A basketball champs/contenders) and then at SEMO. He has been recruited by Missouri, Missouri State, Kansas, Georgetown, et. al. It is not a stretch that his dad would relate to Cuonzo Martin, although, I think his cousin transfered from Missouri State to SEMO, not sure why. If Martin can reel him in, it would be huge. He is unselfish, can play the 2, 3, 4 and probably the 5 if you asked him to. If Tobias stays and Otto Porter comes to UT, things would be looking hellafine.

Otto Porter's cousin, Michael, was a fine ballplayer that redshirted his freshman year at MSU due to a leg injury and emergency appendectomy the summer before the season. Then, just at the end of the season of his redshirt year, he had a one-car accident and required hip surgery. He ended up leaving MSU and moving back to Southeast Missouri to be back with family. He enrolled at SEMoState Univ and the last we heard it was still up in the air if he will play basketball again. If he does, he will do it at SEMO.

Thanks EGoat. Just hired Paul Lusk, Associate Head Coach from Purdue (inherited that position when we hired Zo from Purdue) and it seems to be a great hire.

Is there an SEC Network? My daughter will be a student at Arkansas this fall and we look forward to an opportunity to see some exciting conference football, and now get a chance to watch UT with our former and your new coach.

Yes, there is. Here locally for me, the channel used to be "Jefferson Pilot" if that helps.

ESPN has alot of games, and as far as SEC network, there is one, it just varies which channel from state to state. Sounds Luke you guys made a good hire. Maybe you can make some noise and get to the tournament. I hope so anyways.

If we can get otto porter we need to take him, he looks very good on youtube. But We need to save room for next year. We are in on some very good big men for 2012. We need to make sure we have room to sign them. May not have 13 schollies to play with because of NCAA Penalites.
Need to make sure we have room for 4 2012 prospects

Posts:
Stokes
Poythress

Wish we could have landed him. Hey BTO what is your take on CCM's approach on recruiting bigs. I feel that their is dire need to land a good one in 2014

There is, and he's in on some good ones. They'll likely lose Maymon, I'm guessing stokes will stay 4 years, but you never know. Philip Cofer is a very talented big who if I had to guess we likely lead for, his dad is a UT legend that helps. UT is also trying with Leron Black from Memphis, but I'd be surprised to see us be a real player. Rumors are we got Cliff Akexander to visit for UK game and he's a 5* big. CJ Turman, JaKeenan Gant and Shane Hall are also some bigs that they're recruiting.

I hope we can get Alexander. It would be an awesome class if we could get Cofer,Alexander and Lyle

I'm not holding my breath on him, think its a reach but who knows.

Lyle
Lindsey
Looney
Cofer
Haas

That's my ideal class. If UNC and/or Duke don't offer Lindsey we've got a very real shot at him.

Haas was a big I forgot...7 footer from Alabama, likes UT.

Played against Otto Porter Sr. Hard for me to believe Jr. is better than his dad, but I guess the proof is in the Hoya.

Forgot bout Looney. Would like to keep Lindsay in state. Back to 2013 class. Do you ultimately think we end up with Thompson? Last I heard we lead for him

If I had to bet on it, yes I think we end up with him. This one will play out for awhile though, look for him to visit probably for the Missouri game.

My opinion is that we land him as well but with CCM targeting Lyle as his #1 target it is a good possibilty that we may have finally found our stud pg if we land him

Lyle and Thompson can both play the 1 or 2

Really hope we can get Lyle next year. I think he will be a star. Now I was looking at some rosters and noticed Ky only has 2 avaliable schollys for next year with 5 kids committed. I wonder where the other extra schollys come from

They were planning on Noel Goodwin Poythress and Harrow all to have good seasons and leave. Problem with the one and dones. They will make room somehow. Mays is a senior I believe so that's three

I just have a good feeling that Lyle and Looney will be our surprise commits. Especially if we make a good run this year and next.
