Need to go: Santorum, Bachmann.

Should be out soon: Gary Johnson and possibly Gingrich and Huntsman.

Leaving: Romney, Perry, Cain, Paul.

I think Johnson is too much of an unknown. It's too bad he wasn't included in earlier debates, so that he could get more exposure.

How much money does Gingrich have? I think that determines how long he stays in.

Does Huntsman have enough support to warrant staying in the race?

I also wouldn't be surprised to see Perry bow out if his numbers keep sliding as fast as they are.

It will be tough for Perry to recover, but I think he has a lot of money, so he'll probably stick around to the end. Paul of course will too, but he won't have any legit chance. Cain is a wildcard. He could fizzle next week or be the next nominee. But I think Romney is the candidate to beat. He has staying power and his message is time tested. But he still isn't very exciting, and would beat Obama just by default.

I'm hoping Cain can really strengthen his brand, although I doubt he does.

Christie is really the only one that I think could blow them all away, but it's gotten so late that he would really have to get out blazing.

WTF is Cain doing??

First Read - First Thoughts: Perry's bleeding continues

So Cain now has his moment, and guess what: He doesn’t appear to be using it. For starters, with about three months until the Iowa caucuses, he’s going on a book tour for much of October. Second, he's not scheduled to be back in Iowa until mid-November. And third, his communications director just left his campaign -- to work for the re-election of Louisiana’s lieutenant governor (!!!). Those aren’t just signs of someone who’s unlikely to win the GOP nomination; they’re signs of someone who isn’t really trying to win, a la Mike Huckabee in 2007-2008.

Yeah I read that article today, honestly makes you think that maybe he was running just to promote his book? I don't believe that, but that is the way it looks like. He should be using this momentum right now to crush the opponent and spread his message more, since he will be getting more attention from the media and so forth. Who knows, I hope he makes the right move.

Christie doesn't like his chances in this election. He already has name recognition, so no need to run. He'll be doing it in 2016.

unless he gets a VP nod, which I really hope he doesn't. VP candidate needs to be Marco Rubio and no one else.

Which means, of course, the GOP is going to screw this up and allow the eventual candidate to pick some RINOdouche like Lindsey Graham or Lamar Alexander.

Not a chance. None of them will be vp candidates with the possibele exception of Rubio
