2013 Recruiting

Clearly the top three targets are Nick King, JW3, and Austin Nichols. Anything new on these kids?

Also, two wild cards: Jimmy Taylor and Robert Hubbs. Anyone know anything about these two?

All Five are takes. The each have their own styles that would mesh wonderfully in a team setting. To get 3 of the 5 would be a great haul. They would have a great balance of size, athleticism, and smarts. The best part is from what I have seen from these kids there are no Big egos that will need stroking. So I think they would make for a very cohesive group as well.

Anyone think if we get Stokes it would help to get these guys? I know he may not play with them but it may send a message saying it's ok for a top player in the state to go to UT and help turn the program around. Maybe I'm crazy but you never know.

JW3 and Austin Nichols play the same position. Likelihood of landing them both is probably slim

It will probably have no bearing on Hubbs. He has very little in the way of ties to the Memphis network of players. He plays in Memphis for AAU but, Dyer County is pretty far removed from the Memphis scene. So he doesn't receive that daily pressure from UofM people and fans to stay at home.

It wouldn't hurt unless they think Stokes will stick around and they don't want to have to compete for playing time with him.

I saw on twitter that someone asked Nichols when he was going to decide where he was going. He said once Jarnell decides or something like that. I'll try to find it again.

Tells me Tennessee...Just sayin IMO, TIFWIW JMHO IMHO IYAM, etc. etc.

So, for 2013, we''ll have Nichols and Landry to start? Sounds like a good way to get the class going. Two top 150 players.

I still think Nichols will be a tough pull. Especially if Coach K offers.

Stokes is hopefully going to pay dividends in the Memphis area, though.

Finally got one. Then you add Nichols, and then the possibly of JW3? Now you got a pipeline. Imagine this class with me for a minute...

Nichols
Landry
Williams

Add a guard and a center and you are talking one sick class.

This class is going to be sick. Add Sindarius Thornwell as a serious contender.

Add Moses Kingsley to the list. Recently offered. Big man from Mississippi. Ton of potential. Raw however.

ESPN

Strengths:
This young man is a competitive sort inside the lane. You have to respect his motor and the tenacity with which he approaches the game. He's got sneaky length and seems to unwind as he goes to the rim. He's a very good prospect right now with the tools to improve. He's a dedicated rebounder and instinctive shot blocker.

Weaknesses:
Maybe the most important aspect of his development will come in the area of feel for the game. He strikes us a player who needs reps in game situations to tweak his learning curve.

Bottom Line:
A spirited player, Kingsley is a must-see for the high-level schools because of his size and physicality.
