2013 TN PG Darius Thompson

Don't know if it has been discussed here or not, but during the latter part of the season, there has been talk starting to swirl that Landry will head to prep school instead of enrolling at Tennessee next year. He's denied the rumor but it keeps popping up.

If this is true then I believe we have found out who the casualty will be.

Eric Bossi also saying Thompson may break into top 150 on next rankings, says he is right there and in his opinion is in, but have to find someone to bump out.

Welcome Mr. Thompson!

Does anyone know if he's a penetrating, get to the rim type point guard?

Watching his game reminds me of OJ Mayo. I'm not saying he's anywhere close to as good as OJ was coming out of high school, but he has that frame to be a 1 or 2 guard who has a scorers mentality. He can shot the 3 ball, and yes, he can get to the rim. He needs to work on his ball handling and passing the most, along with his ability to hit spot up jump shots.

Darius likes to penetrate and kick. Loves to make the great pass. He scored for Blackman when he had to. He is the ultimate team player. Sounds like Hubbs is too so I believe these 2 will help this team over the next few years. I don't know anything about Davis.

Davis is RAW. Lots of upside and can shot pretty well, but he has to get stronger.

"I honestly could have committed when I was on my visit, after everything I saw on that trip I knew that Tennessee was the place for me," Thompson said. "I wanted to take some time to think it over, but I really knew that weekend that I wasn't going anyplace besides Tennessee."

"I feel like I've gotten to know the coaching staff, I've had a chance to sit and talk with them and meet all the players, and there's just a real family atmosphere there. That's important to me," Thompson said. "Coach Martin is the kind of guy you just respect automatically and I like how he does things."

"They always talked to me about playing point guard, that was important to me, and I feel like it's a really good situation for me to come in and get playing time as a freshman on what should be a really good team," Thompson said.

"Winning is important to me, and especially right now, watching all these tournament games, I want to go to a place where I can play in the tournament. I definitely feel like we can do that at Tennessee and I want to be a part of it."

Saw Quinn mention if...it's kinda funny how much Thompson being lean was talked about and how he'd have to add weight to be SEC ready. Yet he's the same weight and 1" shorter than Hubbs who is expected to be an instant impact player.

I know and Hubbs will be playing against stronger players at his position too. I think they will both add weight quickly. Hubbs adds 20 lbs of muscle that would be great. Plus they're rooming together so they can push each other.
