One or both were going to leave early even if Pearl stayed. Personally I think both would have left. Scotty wanted to go pro and I doubt a fourth year was going to help him get there. Tobias was going as well because his stock was likely higher than it would ever be due to the possible lockout that kept a lot of guys from declaring.
So yeah, fair or not, that's how Pearl left it.
Overlooked statement in a sea of idiocy. Also, Thompson is not athletic enough to guard SEC 1's. If ya'll dislike Trae's D, then you're going to be sick.
How can you blame pearl then for recruiting guys that were talented enough to ho early. I'm not sure either would go. If you go by what they said both were quoted as saying they were inclined to stay if pearl was to retained.
How would Kentucky have 7 kids committed if this wasn't allowed?
UK also gave 4 of their walk-on players scholarships, so that's 9 that we actually on scholarship to begin with. With Noel possibly leaving, two seniors leaving, and John Hood not being granted a 5th year, that's 5 total scholarships that are on the team + the 7 freshmen
I know their situation...the OP asked how we can take this kids commitment if we are CURRENTLY full. My response was that KY is currently full, or close and if this was how it worked how could they take commitments from 7 guys.
My point ultimately being, you can take as many commitments as you want, you can take 100 commitments if you want...you have to have the spots for them though by a certain date. So even though we or Kentucky don't technically currently have spots open we can still take commitments.
This is going to be one of the more interesting developments this spring. So far, Calipari, at UK, hasn't "missed" with very many recruits and the nearly complete turnover permitted Cal to just bring in another load of 5*. This year, there are three guys who are graduating and only one--Nerlens Noel--that is a guaranteed NBA player. Does Poythress, Cauley-Stein, and/or Goodwin test the NBA waters? What if they fall to the second round or don't get drafted--which hasn't happened yet with Cal's UK players--and they were encouraged to go pro? And so on and so forth. I hope there is some backlash because it is stomach turning to watch Cal land 4-5 of the 10 or 15 best players in the country nearly every year. Seriously, why aren't more of these kids going to UNC, Duke, KU, UCLA, etc.?
BT what was the deal with Chris Jones signing with Louisville? Did TN re-recruit or did Pitino just secure him?
